Whats the DCi all about?

  ExigeV6|Q5|DS3|Fiat
With my driving route soon to be upped to 1200 miles a month, im considering changing the 172 to a more fuel efficient DCi.

Any DCi owners here can inform me of the different varients and generally gizmos etc you get with the car? Whats the best all round varient?

DCI 100 has similar torque figures to a 172, but is a group 5 insurance group and gets tonnes of miles to the gallon. Definatly my choice. Dont get anythign lower than dynamique if u like your toys. There is also a DCI 65 and a DCi 80 however all have slightly more bhp than stated.

I used to get 65 mpg in my old DCI...I was a good little car...would recomend it..if you can live without the power and 0-60 time..lol

I love my DCI 86. It's not a slow car really (especially considering what some people on this site think about diesels), and does 50+mpg even with a lead foot. Old man driving style you can expect to get over 70.

I had a DCI80 Mk3 or whatever it was, and if you were just driving normally it felt quicker than my 182. I'd imagine a DCI 100, especially if it was chipped, to be faster than any RS that wasnt living in its cam zone. Obviously an RS driven with intent will sail by, but in normal driving situations i can imagine a DCI feeling pretty brisk.

Well in all honesty if I'm changing down for cost reasons I dont mind sacrificing performance so what I'm after is the most all rounder varient of DCi, as long as its not mega slow it doesnt really matter as ill be motorway crusing the majority of the time so 0-60 etc is not important.

Again getting it chipped etc wont be necessary as they will only use more juice which again goes against the whole reason of changing.

I've got the 65 the 80 was released at about the same time. The 100 didn't come till later and the 105 is only in the Mk3's and has the 6 speed box the rest have 5 speed.
Its not megga quick but its not bad after driving a 1.4 Mk3 for the past few days on my personal test track I got it to 95mph the dci will get to 90 in the same space.

MPG depends how you drive I get 50or so but I drive very hard on track the lowest it will go is just iunder 30mpg. With a bit of care on the motorway it will easily do 60mpg even at high speeds. At 110 it will still do 37mpg.

Best all round I don't know I'd say maybe the 80 at the 100 are expensive usually. The 65 is handy though as it doesn't have an intercooler so if like me you get stone chips you just need a new radiator which is cheaper than an intercooler and radiator.
The 80dci will give 85hp and feels about the same as a 110hp petrol at normal rpm. 0-60 about 12~13 seconds or so.

They were desingned for the 18k servicing so they are handly parts are cheap realy no plugs or coils to go wrong but they cna be expensive if parts do fail as its all computerised. Mines had no toruble in 72k though and I've driven it on track and hard miles all its life.

The spec is just like the 1.2 etc cars dynamic extreme etc specs out there.

I prefere the noise at motorway crusing not sure if its quieter I'd say so but its nicer IMO.
I can get techie if you want but the 80 dynamic is a good option it came with aircon and electric sunroof and the alarm.

I'd recommend my dci 100 to anyone who wants quality performance & economy at the same time! Driven hard i expect to get about 550miles to a tank, and careful over 650!
Its £50 a year to tax & only group 5 insurance. Service intervals are every 18k too. doesn't seem to get mentioned much but these hav ABS and discs at the rear as well so stopping power is awesome for a car so smal lol. Get the dynamique, they're ace.
