What's the very best cameraphone?

I'm due an upgrade on my contract and although I have a W810i I hardly ever use any of the functions (just texting, calls and the camera)

With that in mind, which is the best phone for taking photos with? Preferably a Sony Ericsson one, there is one advertised on TV at the moment with a 3.2MP Cybershot but I can't remember the model name.

Yet to use a phone with a good cam, there all shite IMO. But SE ones seem to be the best of them.

The phone with the 3.2 MP camera is the K800i/K810i. I have had both and they are excellent phones. There is a new Nokia phone out now with a 5 MP something camera but it is a lot of money

Not to fussed about a silly number of pixels, the sensor in a phone could never handle it. 2-3.2mp is more than enough. They should concentrate on offering some sort of manual control i.e. shutter speed, or has someone already done this?

THe Nokia N73 has a great camera. SE K810i is pretty good too, although the phone looks very ugly/plasticy/cheap imo and the buttons could be a bit fiddly

Nokia then the N95, otherwise the K810 seems pretty good too. Although personally I think the N95 camera is the best one i've had on a phone, only thing its lacking is a proper xenon flash.

To throw a spanner in the works, I have a Samsung U600, and the camera is brilliant. Pictures on the computer screen look better than my brothers K800i, but his has a proper flash, so in bad light, his is much much better.

Don't get caught up on the spec of megapixel - quality components and software is more crticial, IME. I used to get some great shots from 2mp SonyErics. However, you must have a lot of natural light.

N95 isn't that great imo. The fact that it's 5 MP doesn't make it good. If the sensor is complete w**k then it doesn't matter how many mega pixels it has. As Chris said, 2-3.2 is more than enough for a camera phone.

I'd hardly call the pictures that andy_con posted complete w**k so how can the sensor be complete w**k?!

I was merely trying to point out the fact that mega pixels aren't everything. It's just that some people believe that is the thing to look for when buying cameras and phones. I didn't actually state that I thought the sensor on the n95 was w**k, but it has to have other things to back it up as well, not just the fact that it is 5 MP. I apologise if I offended you. In fairness, I have since looked at your photos that you posted and they are quite impressive. How well do they print? I would be interested to know.
