What's this ?

I was cleaning the boot on my clio 182 out and the boot mat looked wet so I left it out to let it dry . Turned out it wasn't wet but oily anyway looked in the boot spotted this

After a bit of prodding most of the patch is rock solid but were its black it's gone soft and oily .any ideas what it is , for , if all clios have it , and do I need to replace ?

It's sound deadening. All clio's have it. Sticky black tar stuff that you'll need to use a heat gun to remove. Probably best to leave it in there as it does leave a mess.
