whats wrong with my car?

Car  S2 106 GTI
In the mornings when i set off to work (when engine's cold) i put my foot on the accelerator to set off and the engine starts to stall? like its flooded but when i lift off abit it picks back up again, when the engines warmed up it doesn't do it at all!? faulty sensor?? my cars a 172 cup

Mine does this. Think its the decat fella, as it doesnt do it with the cat back in.

If you rev it a few times/ after five mins it runs smoothly?

When its doing this will it not rev to a certain speed either 3k or 4k?

yeah just sounds like its being flooded, and when i let off it picks back up again,

Peperami - yeah if i sit there and rev it a few times before i set off its fine?

Mine does this it hesitates , must be to do with the cold start if i leave it running for 20-30 seconds first its fine .

Mine does it. From what i've read on here its normal? Its because the engine is cold and the ecu is protecting the engine until its warmed up a bit. Thats my take on it anyway!

yup mines always jerky on cold mornings if i set off straight away bu the time im off the estate its fine

I think you need me to give it a f**king good caneing! It fixed it last time remember ha ha ! Saturday morning matey?????

It's my understanding that all 182's (presumably 172's as well) do this.

When I first got mine I was like, wtf, am I out of fuel or something:eek: but then asking around it became apaprant that it was perfectly normal.

Turn engine on, wait 30 secs drive off, no probs:D

its only just started doing this, think it might be a sensor, or if not the de-cat :)

Mine feels a little hesitant in the mornings sometimes too, first noticed it over past couple of months. FWIW I've seen others comment that this seems to be affected by weather/atmospheric conditions - might be why its only just started doing it on your car

There is nothing wrong with your car. Its to do with the fuel cycle. When its cold it switches between closed and open cycles to help proper fueling. When it warms up it switches back and doesnt do this.

Its normal mate
