wheel sizing discussion

  audi a6 3.0tdi
i'm currently on standard 15 inch wheels and was thinking of changing but don't want to lose any of the great handling that i have now. should i stick with 15's or will 16's be ok. i know the phase two have 16's but they are not supposed to as much fun as the phase 1 and was wondering if this was down to the wheels. performance is everything to me so i'm not doing anything that will upset the characteristics that i have now as i love it. i read recently someone was changing back to 15's from the 16's they had. so what is everyones opinion?

i can throw my car around like a little go kart would it still be the same or does it lose some of its fun factor with the 16's? i'm still on standard suspension so no setting up to worry about

i would have thought 15s or 16s are just as good for handling but its more about what tyre you get as to what feed back/feel you get from the road!!

Bigger diameter wheels are heavier. Even with the same width wheel and the same width and diameter wheel, if you have 16" wheels, or worse 17", they wheel tyre comination is heavier than a 15" wheel.

What that hurts most is ride.

It also hurts acceleration, but only by a very small amount.

When it comes to handling the lower profile sidewalls and the wider tread area of the 16 or 17" wheel improves grip, and turn in, and feedback. Some people say they can feel the extra wheel weight in the handling, and they don't like it, but its a matter of opinion.
