which coil pack £28 or £58

  monaco 172
Going to get a new coil pack to see if this cures my missfire.

Are 182's as picky with coil packs as they are with spark plugs?

GSF have got one for 28 quid and one for 50 or i could get gebuine for about 65.

Is a coil pack a coil pack sorta thing or will it run like crap like it does without proper ngk plugs?

Mine went before n just got a second hand one from "just Renault" and worked perfectly, the only time ur car will dislike spark plugs is if they're burnt out or have the incorrect gap setting

nah for some reason the f4r engine hates any other plugs than the proper ngk ones. Think ill just get the cheap one and hope for the best lol

I'm defo investing in some heat shielding to protect it from ne more heat deterioration, hope it works for you, if not just make sure u keep the receipt!

Well waste of 28 quid, still sounds exactly The same. Don't know what else to try other than some New leads. Diagnostics machine says nothing apparently.

Below 3k if I blip the throttle it sounds really spluttery, and if I leave it ticking over it idles at 1000 when fully warm.

But main thing I've noticed is my tail pipes get black and sutty after about 40 miles.

sounds like lambda sensor to me, to save wasting any more money though try swopping the pre and post cat sensors over im sure they are the same

Well that was my plan of action but my post cat one has welded itself into my cat which is sat in the garage. Fred sed rear doesn't need plugging in so that can't be the problem

^^^^ WD40 and a lambda socket, that will come out.

If not NW performance sell them for £60, but buy it via Ebay and not the shop link here as they charge less postage via Ebay.....cheeky

Tried that ha, had the blow torch to heat it up, wd40, thin oil, will not budge.

Well previous owner did say it's had 2 new lambada but had no receipts.

I'm not sure weather to go for a new lambda or new ht leads? Can only afford 1. 50:50 chance it might fix it lol

If it was my money i would go Lambda. Cant see leads causing that issue.

High idle and sooty tailpipes, would suggest over fuelling.......Lambda fault.

Right, I'm swaying towards lambda, an it's all on you if it's wrong ha.

Is there anyway to test the leads with a multimeter?

no not really its the insulation that would of broken down. if u open your bonnet when its dark and run engine u will see sparks coming from the leads if there broken down, would put money on lambda sensor though

my leads went and did exactly the same. the car smoked alot, idled high then low and generally fluctuated and had a loss of power. changed them and its been fine ever since. :D

I'm not down on power I don't think, was keeping up with my mates ctr in a 30 to 70 run coming off a roundabout to the dual carriageway It's just the spluttering and the high idle annoying me.

pay for a diagnostics plug in, you'll get the the cause of issues much quicker and save yourself wasted parts buying

I had it on my mates diagnostics and an rs tuner and nothing was showing as a fault.

What would a good garage know to look for on the diagnostics?
