Buying my Dad a new camera and he wants one of the 2 below, anyone used either or similar? Opinions please!

I like the pentax over the Canon, but just wanted to get opinions before i shed out the cash! Has some manual controls too just in case!

Pentax, never used a bad pentax camera. Oh and I have a 20+ year old manual SLR that still works perfectly!!

I like the look of the Canon personally. (I'm bias by the way)

Safe to say the in-lens stabilisation will be a little more affective than 'shake reduction'. It also will have all the manual controls you'll need. 4x optical zoom vs 3. Please ignore the 7.1mega pixels vs 10, that's not always a good thing...
