When you say 'not bought from Sony'... where did you buy it if I may ask you?

^ sorry, haven't got one but helped a family member get one (am looking after xmas for myself), think they got it from either digitaldirect or prcdirect approx £1500 inc vat, however with 5yrs warranty and a nice glass stand your looking at circa £2k all in

The Toshiba 42WLT66 is also a good set and cramptonandmoore in sheffield are selling Toshiba LCDs with free genuine matching stand and there 5yr warranty is a damn good price, not sure if Tosh does 1080p though

£1470 inc stand, 5yr warranty all inc vat

so you recommend being an early adopter of 1080p but not of HD-DVD then........... ;)

1080p is tried and tested and proven to give absolute best picture, personally I think 720p is better than 1080i so if your spending over a grand on a new LCD you plan to keep for 4-5 years etc then can't see point in getting one that wont do 1080p, only my opinion though, progressive better than interlaced every time

paid £2k for the tv and stand I think. the media centre is another £1k and the amp receiver think 3-400.

The TV we have at the moment is a Sony and as it's less than two years old and nothing wrong with it, I don't know why we need another! :S Loads of surround sound speakers too so wouldn't need to buy any more of those.. and thanks for your help people. :)
