Whinning noise after Aux belt change

  Clio 182 with cup kits
I had my Aux belts changed by a Renault dealership last year at 36k. When I picked it up, there was a whinning noise from the engine (belt area). I thought this must be normal but in hind sight obviously it wasn't as it didn't do it before. Can any one advise, could this be because of an over tensioned belt? Because this was year ago I won't be able to get any joy from the dealer. They are quite far away from me and I wouldn't let them touch my car again anyway. They also managed to smash my front splitter (standard renault one) putting it on their ramps and not manage to fix my ac whilst under warranty but that's another story. if it is the tension does anyone know if this can be done quickly and easily (cheaply) by a garage or is it the same work as having the belt changed in the first place? :S

iv got same thing after having my timing belt valves etc done mines doing it when cars reving out and when revs are droping back i think its my aux belt as its a bit over due so im having it done tomorrow

They auto tension it is not adjustable.

They could have routed it wrong and hence it's rubbing or too tight but from a Renault dealer you'd hope not.

Sometimes the new belt causes weak tensioner/idler pulleys to fail.

Mine whined alot when the alternator when - had an internal short so was a massive load on the belt.

You need to find an independent specialist to help you really if you can't fault find yourself.

You could have a listen below bember level, and try to determine if the noise is coming from the idler at the bottom of the engine.

They all whine a bit but if its loud I would put my money on the tensioner or bottom idle pulley.

I thought they came as a kit!? Tensioner and Puller with belt? IMO they should all be changed at the same time as a new 1 of any of those 3 could cause the old parts to go. Changed them all on mine when I bought it because it had the same loud whinening noise, get the tensioner and the pulley changed too.

I'd kick off too mate, it would of been a 10 min job when they changed ur belt and had it stripped down but now its gonna cost u a few more hours labour to get put right. If you ok with cars then i would give it a go, took me 4 hours and has been fine for 22k now.

No you can get all the parts separetely. Though as you said it is best to do the lot every 36k
