Is it finished with a clear coat or not? If it's chalky and got no shine then you are best off giving it a good polish with an orbital, you could do this by hand though, the abrasion you want will depend on the quality of the paint to start with, for example something like Autoglym Super Resin Polish (AG srp) has very little abrasive and contains fillers which will help enhance the shine but for really tired paint you'll want to start with something with more cut to it.
Then you could seal it a couple of times with AutoGlym Extra Gloss Protection (AG egp) and top off with a decent wax:- P21s looks great but doesn't last long if car is used in all weathers, collinte no476 is cheap and last well.
Each step will return results only as good as the last step a full process will take a bit of time. A quick polish and whacking a coat of wax over the top will not yeild the best results.

Like a silver car you will never get the depth you can get with other darker colours. You will get a nice gloss, but using different waxes to get better results will have little or no effect on white.

I would give it a good polish, sealant and then use a durable Carnuaba to add more protection and maybe enhance the looks very slightly.

I used to use AG SRP and EGP topped with Megs 16 on my mates White Ford RS.
