My first 15 mins is country roads, winding through villages

Then i do around 40 mins on main roads... doing an even 50 (getting stuck in long queues of moving traffic) then through Banbury (so town driving) and the last 5 mins on a fast stretch of 60 road :D

Pay the difference on running cost and I'll drive a petrol with happyness. Otherwise I'll go on holidays and enjoy my life instead of paying unnesssesary for running costs.

Bubbles I had been getting 70mpg reciently its made a severe drop recinetly though to 64mpg due to some higher speed motorway miles.

I get free diesel but still drive a petrol car. Unless someone gives me a remapped 535d!

Pah, 40mpg in a 182.

Terrible use of such a car.

34mpg for me, cars like that are meant to be driven.

40mpg is nothing, can get over 10mpg more than that if you try.

'Spirited' driving only gets about 30mpg though. lol

^^^Iv seen that kinda comment loads on here and i would like to know the deffinition of 'driven'!?

I drive pretty tamely in built up areas, am in 5th gear by 30/40mph but when i get to duals/a roads its time for beans, i mean 7k stuff but im still averaging a good 36/38 mpg.

Would you class this a 'driven correctly' or am i missing something here!? Lol

I mean not watching the MPG meter all the time.

Just drive it normally.

Plus that readout is so so out its not true!
For example; my car currently says 36.2 average.
But ive done 320miles on 10 gallons (the clio has an 11 gallon tank, or 10.99)
which obviously equates to 32mpg.

Lol. GHEY!!! try 15 in the vee

lol! I'm averaging 17 in the LCR around town at the mo!

Hit 39mpg on a daytrip to Nottingham last saturday, 166 miles and back, pure M1 boredom, apart from owning a few minors trying it!

  Better than yours. C*nt.
You see that's all good and well... But I do 100 miles a day with fairly spirited driving in my GT and get 50mpg... And when I'm nice to it I can see as good as 70mpg.

You have to have strong winds and the engine turned off to do that in a 182...

agree that you don't buy a 1*2 for fuel economy... but when needs must it can be quite frugal :)

with the arrival of a diesel it's not likely we'll be seeing such how mpg again for a bit

driving back from somerset after buying my 172ff (my dad drving im not insured for a couple of weeks misjudged my driving for a year status..)
was getting 44mpg+ and was crusing at a decent speed.... no doubt i will see about 30mpg as i have a heavier right foot...
