who would you trust to

LOL, i give up

no need for custom pas line, and yes you can keep the aircon, with full length trumpets, you just have to be clever where you put things

At a cost I'd imagine ;)

Still, would be nice to keep the power and aircon, just cant see it being cheap or easy... if it is, bonus, I'll look into a working solution

Is that cheap?

How comes it costs 3-4k then? Is it the mapping or the fitting that costs all the money?

  Lionel Richie
thats just for the tb's

you need injectors
ecu
loom
airbox
fuel pipe
oil breather/catch tank setup

installation of loom

etc

  C63 AMG, F430 & 172
jenvy said they will do me a foam filter for £30, fuel line was included, catch tank i made on my gti cost about £50 for the piping and ali tank,

think i will use a omex or the likes,... had a chat with wayne and he said £600 all in..

so not for off 2k

  Lionel Richie
injectors?

you need the correct backing plate/and foam filter, you wanna check which, otherwise you''ll be fucked for space

ill check with them tomorow

what injectors are people using?

as regards to the map, chipwizards said that 600 is fitted live map and omex are about for £200 ish secondhand/recons

plus i get all the vat back on these items so thats near 20% off

  ITB'd Ph1 172
GDI do a lot of Mark Fish's engine work, he's more track prep, like suspension, cages etc etc.

Mark, Andy's the UK's only approved mapper for Omex, mine drives better than a standard 172/182.

not quite the case...... omex has quite a few agents....

I was thinking that .. I certanly will NOT be doing the brew runs for this one .. the clutch incident was bad enough ..

Its all in the details.

The jenvey kit will need the linkage setup as extra, the fuel rails are poo, you'll have to dick around with new fuel lines as the clio has moulded hardlines which cant have new fittings put on without gashing it together. The jenvey linkages and fingers are pressed steel so rust. They are horribly machined from factory and take work to improve them. You'll need to sort out your throttle cable. The airbox setup is pretty horrid as its an aftertought to clear the fuel rail.

They make the power, but i wouldnt exactly call them bolt on. Total cost for everything needed hardware wise will be in the region of £1500, then you'll need the ECU, splice into loom, map......IMO sort out the radiator aswell.

ITB's arent hard to do, just tricky to do really really well.

to fit itbs to your car?

who produces the most power.. or offers the best VFM?

more to the point who would you trust?

well.id only trust myself tbh. most tuning companies dont seem to get the best out of things imo.

mapping side of things.again theres only 1 man to do this...approved mapper or not, doesnt really matter, its whether someone knows what they are actually doing rather than paying a company a subsidy to get 'approval'....so wayne will be mapping mine as well ;)

was advised to chat to him by DTA as he had helped in designing their ecu.....not approved but hey lol ..........am well impressed with the work hes done for me before.

as said above...theres more to it than just boltin the bodies on and away you go. rads etc are expensive, so a job done properly will cost that little bit more, but it should be done right first time for any serious amount of money imo.

the bodies etc can be picked up cheap if you look 2nd hand....for e.g i have less than a grand in mine...including the car..so far, but with a rad, mapping etc and a few more little bits n bobs it will be closer to 2k. if not 3.

got me tool's at the ready , mini lump hammer , no nail's glue , expanding foam , mr muscle oven cleaner an i have even got a spare radiator outta me house for the job .

what you reckon benni boi

pah, you're still gonna get panned, stripped, mapped or otherwise old man ;)

just hope after Wayne's finished your not pouring coffee cups full of fuel down the throttle bodies to get it started ;) pmsl

lol. would be more like coffee tins full o juice.u know the 5 kg fukkers lol.

will have to wait and see mate... once things are sorted out tho, im pretty confident that it will keep pace with yours no probs. but then...a £0 back street build vs £how many thousands now??? alledged tuning guru built car....id be seriously upset if mine was anywhere near as quick as yours tbh, if id put the money into the same kinda build as yours..

i reckon its probably runnin as well now, as yours was when you got it tbh, so you know how much more potential power there is to be had, prob even more so as it will be mapped properly 1st time round ;)

ok. i am ordering the jenvey kit this afternoon.

what sort of power would i be looking at, with the remap, boddies, injectors, de-cat, cat back?

no cams as yet. but then i am thinking should i just plonk the cams in before the re map? and just wait a while longer.

i could strip the engine down, but would have to pay someone to fit the new belt

so power with cams?
power without?

you do realise the amount of pms you will get from me asking for help, now i know you have biult yours!

Ben - Ric Wood works from his and his old mans unit, it's Ric Wood and White Gates. Here's his site, give him a bell, he's a good chap.

http://www.ricwood.com/

As for power, 200-210 without cams imo, 220ish with cams.

9 lives - need to take into consideration that yours has had head work, weighs less to begin with and is probably 800kg's or under now it's totally stipped to the bone and running light weight buckets lol... will be more even when I get some headwork on mine and take all of the interior and sound deadening out and goto buckets etc etc... need to get another car first though... may just buy another Ph1 now as they are cheap as f**k

I'd deffo put cams in as well, power accorss the rev range will be drastically improved as well as the 20odd peak bhp you will gain.

  williams and trophy
£300 for a cambelt???

deffo worth having cams thrown in tho. you should see a decent amount of gain over std with just the bodies....but if its worth doing , its worth doing right. fortunately i dont really need my car as i have use of others, but its an ongoing project that will be kept on the road while the work is done around it if you know what i mean.

in other words.it runs so fukkit ;) lol

to get the best out of it tho , not really sure on the 172 heads as i havent had a mess with any 172s under the bonnet tbh, but headwork/bigger valves would also suit.

again this isnt a necessity but would add to the overall package.

@ jesus........only way to tell would be to line em up....would be a good comparison b4 and after for both of us tbh.

i tried onnce but u bottled it ;)

either that or the grief from the verbal limiter was overpowering the red mist ;)

Ben - not sure mate, I'd go for cat cams personally, no idea what profile and duration though, Andy GDI or someone will know, as you dont want to go too wild on a stock BE iirc, so nowt requiring solid lifters...

9 lives - well, I might pop over on Friday to reinstall windows for you (not that I dont trust you ;) lol) and we can have a comparison then.

The time I bottled it was due to the limiter kicking in before the throttle had been pressed... incredible! But that was also when you only had Wayne's engine in... not really any point there, think we know the outcome ;) lol

I think you might be dissapointed with fitting 'just' ITBs to a standard engine. I think 200 ish on a 172. Based on the ktec kit and I think GDI possibly Angelworks did one and it got low 200s. You will get better mid range from cams on there own and a similar top end compared to ITBs on there own.

aye.itd have raped u til 100 ish.then youd have come past ;)

ur limiter sounds almost identical to mine....i have 2 kids in the back, screamin to go faster and pass evrything in sight.and a passenger that just screams...lol
