Why is my car

Some thing is wrong with my car, last week the engine oil level light came on and went off again, yesterday morning it done the same (RED Lights on dash)
This morning when I started the car the oil level on the dash was flashing lines and the light is back on (ORANGE service light)

My car was serviced using elf oil less than 2000 miles ago, there is no leaks and no marks / signs of leaking.

Priced up an oil level sensor (8200 670 520) and they are £40+Vat

Can anyone shed any light on this

I know you've probably checked this yourself but, parking on a gradient? Level is ok?

If both are ok then change the sensor see how you get on. My aunties 04 plate Clio just had the same and it was the sensor on it's way out.

when you start it, do you get a message on the dash "oil level ok" ?

Yeah I do, just started it a second ago and said oil level ok.

I have called Renault and ordered the level sensor, new oil and filter

How come you have ordered more oil and a filter? Does fitting the new sensor loose that much oil? Defo no need for the filter if that was only done 2000miles ago

dont always believe what the electronics tell you, using the dipstick correctly is by far the best way. my sister has a clio and it said oil level ok, i checked the dipstick and it was dry :-S

Don't forget that oil levels are slightly different when hot or cold and electrical gremlins are common.

I'm doing the level sensor and I have decided to do an oil change again and that means I have started from scratch with fresh elf oil and Renault filter and then I can watch it from there and see how it goes
