Wideband Sensor for ITB's

  RB 182
Any tips on what to go for? Is it worth buying an in-car gauge too?

Oh, and im going to run megane injectors. Is it worth upgrading the fuel rail or stick with standard? Will be on a high comp engine with 438 cams.

I'd upgrade the fuel rail - I want to get the jenvey solid rail for mine. Purely because the standard fuel hose connector is a piece of s**t and keeps popping off lol

What are you planning on using the wideband for? They're good for mapping and keeping an eye on things with an in-car display but no good for ecu control.
They're too slow compared to a narrowband.

I run a narrowband in my manifold from a 16v clio, which plugs straight into the omex for fuel control. Then run an innovate wideband just before the cat wired up to a display in the dash which we calibrated then used as a mapping aid and I keep an eye on it if the car starts running funny.

+1 to all of that, thanks for saving me from typing it, lol.

Is there a preferred narrowband to use with itb's? Is the 16v one the best bet?

Really doesnt make much difference in terms of the results, but talk to whoever makes your ECU about what one they recommend as easily compatible.

Innovate is considered better by most, its quicker than the AEM IIRC, there's a lowdown on them somewhere. But as it'll be alongside the narrowband I'd just get whatever is cheapest with a decent gauge for monitoring.

I had the innovate MTX as the gauge looked less chavvy than the AEM one. Both are around the £150 mark

I prefer the sensor from the mk1 16v/willy for 2 reasons. 3 wire, so doesn't earth through the ECU (safer in general), and they're cheap and easy to get.

Wideband for permanent use is a bit pointless, narrowband does the job quite happily. most people just fit wideband so they can say they have it rather than actually needing it or using it regularly

Does it matter if the wideband goes after the cat? I assume it is ok otherwise the AFR readings taken on a RR from the tailpipe would be wrong too?

should always be before the cat. gases are fast enough to be ok on the rollers for WOT stuff with a cat in, but not accurate for part throttle (narrowband feedback is better for mapping these areas anyway, trimming the map to what is actually being done by the lambda is real and much more acurate.

I'm running it with an EC1, not particular reason other than chatting to RS tuning about what I need.

IIRC doesn't the EC1 use the standard loom - so it will be using the standard lambda anyway for closed loop

I'd just get an innovate wideband with gauge mate - they're handy if you're out tweaking the map on the road and give you piece of mind if things start getting a bit funky.
Mines been misfiring recently and watching the AFR when it does it narrowed it down to a faulty injector for me

A bosch lambda works out at £42 via Euros at the mo, but other makes are cheaper. I assume the Bosch is the OE choice?

I don't, but i'm onto the manufacturers of my ecu to see what they recommend. If they come back with the same answer i'll buy.

I think it's a fairly generically used 3ping plug setup - it certainly looks a lot like the lambda plugs on my old 106 too. But if not I guess you could just cut the cables and wire a suitable connector on

a lambda is a lambda basically, just a 1v switching sensor. the mk1 clio is the same as a lot of volvos, vauxhalls etc....usually just different wire lengths
