Renault will definately do something 'special' with the 200 when its time is up, whether it'll be an 'R' version is another thing.

Logic says something will be done, 172 got cup, 182 got trophy, 197 got r27 so 200 should get something surely.

Love that 197 'shop though^^

Think it depends on whether the next clio rs will have a turbo engine or not. If the 200 is last time the 2L N/A engine is used in a renaultsport version i can see a bit of a swan song version, not as extreme as the R26.R just a few tweaks and a bit of weight loss.

Unfortunately, as awesome a machine as it could be (just look at the Megane), I really can't see it happening. Renault struggled to sell the R26.R in the UK. Ford went in the opposite direction with a power increase and improved luxury. They have upped production from 8000 to 11000 worldwide units simply because demand is so high.

Whether or not any individual agrees with the ethos doesn't matter. Sales are everything when it comes to what will and will not be built.

Probably will be but it won't be anything special like an '.R' If anything it will just be the 200's version of an R27 or the 182's Trophy, 172's cup ...just slighty better and improved AND only noticable by a couple tenths on the track.

Exactly.

Renault UK returned 30% of R26.R's to Europe because demand was so low. There's even less chance they'd sell a hardcore Clio. If the .R's pricetag was anything to go by, who would pay £20k for a small hatch with no rear seats.

Oh yeah, some people would. That's right, we're looking at you, Works GP.
