Williams Manifold

  Fiat Coupe 20v turbo
I'd say the williams manifold is better if you are running any sort of decent power...not worth doing on a stnd f7p though

There are several posts on wc about which manifold is best.

Seems some mixed opinions.

Only one I go off is when rr's come round the majority of the bigger powered ones do have the supersprint mani although others slate it?

I wouldnt mind running one for a bit as mine is blowing a bit now.

Just £400 new for f all is not what i fancy.

I think i have a leak at the manifold , either in the gasket or manifold itself, sounds like its rasping? Not too sure if its inlet manifold or exhaust manifold but somethings blowing and main exhaust is intact. but i have looked at the supersprint design and its pretty much the same as a williams! apart from the exception that its stainless steel, so if i can get a williams manifold for £30 or so and get a few bhp (which is what renault did in the first place to get the valver to 150bhp) then id say sod blowing £400 on a supersprint one, get a williams manifold, and if you already have a williams manifold, get it ported and polished!

Yeh mine makes a similar noise.

Happens when you boot it at low revs or press the throttle ish (Like a prolonged blip), thought it was the tappets at first then took a closer look...

Goes away up rev range +2k. Been going for ages on mine. Reckon somethings cracked or the outlet has gone.

Keep your eye out for a 2nd hand one, get them for £200 then tbh, still not 'cheap' though.

Ah im glad someone else seems to have this problem! mine sounds fine until i rever after 2k aswell, just feels like its loosing horses, and the noise is really worrying! i thought it was tappets too till i found out its hydrolic lifters :D So what does everyone think about this problem? will replacing my manifold & downpipe be a cure? or is my engine on the way out lol.

Not sure if you have mis-read what i said or mis-typed.

My blowing noise disappears up the revs but you can hear it if you blip the throttle ish or push hard from low revs....

Prob more the engine loudness which makes it disappear though...

My opinion is the Williams is better on a Williams, I have tried both on the Williams and the Valver looses steam after 60ish on mine, so I went back to the Williams one.

Besides the valver one weighs a f**king ton, bound to loose some bhp there ;)

I had no idea that they ran different exhaust manifolds. The bloody things look the same. They are both 4-1 manis
Supersprint ftw tho

  Valver
Ahh yes sorry i must of mis-read, mine doesnt make the noise until after 2k and carrys on all the way up the rev range, just sounds like loads of spluttering.

Yes just by looking at the valver one you can see it weighs half as much as the engine! but what i cant understand is why wouldnt a williams one be a good upgrade if a supersprint one is? because their virtually the same?

Huh, have you seen the williams manifold. They don't look anything like each other.

The valver is a chunky cast iron one and the williams has a much smaller design.

Plenty of mixed reactions here, so lets say i get the williams manifold and downpipe, is it going to connect straight onto my decat? and how will i change the downpipe and manifold? lift the engine out?

No they have diff decat flanges unless you have a devil 16v/Williams one like myself

  Valver
Am not too sure, the car came with a Scorpion Straight System with a decat, does this mean that i would also have to change the exhaust if the decat is different fitting?

hmm dunno I do know the valver and the Williams have diff mounting points for the exhausts, the devils fit both 16v and Williams, most decats don't.

Ahh so now im going to need:

Williams Manifold
Williams Downpipe
Williams Devil De-Cat?

Im guessing the scorpion exhaust was built to fit the 1.8 and 2.0williams as most exhaust fit more than one type.
