Window fell in to door :(

On my mk2 ph2 i wound the window down yesterday and when going to put it back up it fell into the door at the front. When i shifted it back into place i heard something drop into the door. It not covered under warranty as ive had my windows tinted. What is the problem? It semi falls out of the runner always but usually goes up and down fine. any idea what part has failed and will i be able to repair it easily?

If it tinted properly the company that fitted the tints will have taken the window out. Sounds like they've not put it back properly or damaged something in the process.

Griff they 99% of the time don't take the Fr windows out.

I thought most places did in order to do it properly?

Pentaglas may as their big bucks, but no, most places cut to fit in situe.

mine werent taken out to be tinted.....

might take door cards off and have a browse. Would like to know what it probs is first so i can go down scrappers.

The windows are bolted in on most cars. You have electric or manual wind down windows?

You need to remove the door card for sure. You will see the window has probably dropped down too far because there may be 2 bolts which have come un-done. Will be a fiddly job.

The bolts are usually through the glass and into a back plate which moves the window up and down whether it be with an electric motor or manually.

If the frame is knackered then you'd need to take that all out as well as the seals most likely and buy a new one but its hard to say without actually seeing it.
