Will be very difficult to polish out, if AG Glass Polish does not work, there are kits to remove them but most deform the glass. A new screen is usually the only way to sort them.

You can get chips repaired to 98% perfect.

I've not go any on my 172 windscreen, just a few chips, but my Berlingo van has got s**t loads of scratches.

how do you measure that?
By the results I got.
Had three cars done over the years and you would never have known the chips were there.
I would bet anyone to look at my screen and tell me where the chip was.
Just plain stupid to consider smashing your screen just cos of a chip:S
i would never do that - my dad has a porsche 911 - had to have windscreen replaced - rubber seals took a load of laquer off in the process! not good!

i had some chips repaired before FCS, i still have 1 he said he couldn't repair but thats legal anyway, just the annoying scratches now

Hi, as far as im aware there is no need to smash your windscreen. If you want it replacing then you can have it replaced!! I was driving to Italy last year and my windscreen had a couple of small chips in it so i phoned the insurance company (privilege) and within the day i had a brand new shiny windscreen, £60 excess, no problems with premiums etc............. They dont ask how bad the damage is, they just tell you to get it done!!! From my experience, the guys at autoglass etc dont give a s**t either, to them its just another job!!

my girlfriend brother had three bricks launched through his Mk5 Golf TDi windscreen on three consecutive week ends by lorries on the A9, (why cant someone pressure was the wheel wells before they leave the quarrys to get atlease some of the boulders off before they go pelting along at 60mph). Dude has no luck he has had 6 replaced in a year. well 5 windscreens and a rear, and a head light and both fogs (but all caused by rocks from lorries, the rear the lorry going the other way spat one out back wards and though his window as it went one way at 60 and he was sat behind a tractor lol.)
It affected his insurance like privalege it was marked as claims on his insurance and the renewal price for him went up!
but he switched companies and was advised glass claims dont count.
on a side note, any one know if head light lenses can be repaired like the wind screens, mines have a quite noticeable chips, from stone strikes. can you get lens protectors for clios like you can astras (my neighbour has them on his VXR). Or would either solution cause beam disortion?
