window tints?

Ive wanted to get my windows tinted. but then i was told they are illegal now.

Can any shed sum light on this plz?

back 3 can be as dark as you like.
Windscreen is a no no
front 2 have to let at least 70% of light through which basically means you cant tint them as they let 70/80% though from factory.

how are you meant to measure light reduction?

if a copper says to you

'thats more than a 70% light reduction on those front windows',


what are you going to say?

'Dont be silly officer, its obvious thats 80%!!!'

some of them carry a mad thing that shines through the window and can measure the amount of light it lets through, and your not ment to do the back three more than a certain amount aswell. give it a search there was a huge thread on it last month

they have a laser that shines through it and tells you the reading. Obviously just say i bought the car with them on and thought theyd be fine. Obviously by your reading they aint which is fair enough and so i'll take them off right away. just dont argue your way out and hopefully ull only get 30 quid fine and told to take them off

The windscreen can be tinted, it has to let through atleast 75% light though
