Windows media player - avi help

my WMP has stopped playing AVI files and only plays sound.

i have researched and gathered i need some sort of codec to make AVI files compatable i think..

can anyone point me in the right direction?

Could possibly be divx codecs that need updating.

Perhaps try the divx site to see if there are any updates?

My WMP only accepted some of my AVI's so I ditched it infavour for VLC media player.

Think thats what I used back in the day to get Media to play AVI files when I used to download episodes of LOST

its a codec pack - will integrate with WMP

I prefer to use a program called media player classic - looks like the old school WMP and plays pretty much everything without the bloat

Yes.. as far as I remember download it and install.. it worked for me. I actually found the install files as I saved it. Ive uploaded it and will PM you a link to download it from me!

also.. avi is not a format, its a container.
