  A blue one.
We had a trial version at work in the past, but I just ended up porting our software to linux - no runtime fees.

please bear in mind this is going to run a multimillion pound luxury car seat production line for jag.

Don't think some dodgy freeware is going to used.

Put ubuntu on your manchine, much nicer/prettier that windows.

As with any change in OS if you dont really know what your doing you could really f**k yourself over if you get it wrong. So backup important data first.

I'd say it's less dodgy than XPE, in that it's open source, auditable and based on a stable kernel.

I want some of these!

  Welcome to the L4yer
I have used XPE on a SCADA application. It seems very good but some dlls files & registry settings are missing making it hard to setup HIDs & printers.

  500bhp Scoob
I personally don't think vista is that great, I'm having to run the Ultimate edition to utilise both the CPU's i've got installed. unlike when XP first came out, nothing really stands out.

Prob cos I don't have the wedge to go out and buy the most expensive gfx card to display Aero and do all that fancy stuff.

Back to Server 2003 for me :)

  Better than yours. C*nt.
I use XPe, and while it's missing a couple of bits that would have made my life really easy (it doesn't work with our VPN software, although I don't like Checkpoint much anyway!) it's been a cinch to put in on the floor and we've got around our difficulties through using Secure Gateway on an internet-facing page to get around our VPN issues.

I like it, and while I'd love to mess around with a couple of CE terminals and Debian Linux jobbers, the powers that be want Microsoft (ruling out Linux) and a couple of the other guys in Networks have raised questions with CE particularly with regard to printing.

Very easy to deploy in a 2003 AD environment, and not exactly difficult in our 2000 AD - just a couple of the new features need registry edits to be amended rather than GPO.

  20VT Clio & 9-5 HOT
cos someone said they wanted vista. might have saved them a few days of pain bothering to buy it and put it on their comps!
