winter detail

Well, i don't want to seem as though i'm wishing the summer away (what we've had) but i'm looking at saving for a winter detail (done by myself i just need the products)

Anyway, i've been looking at

http://gtechniq.com/shop/3s-for-cars/kits/winter-whatever/

The GTechniq Winter Whatever kit.

All i want to know is once applied will it last the winter, and how easy will it be to remove next spring in ready for the summer waxing sessions.

Also would i be able to wax over the sealant?

Thanks for any help.

I've been using it since mid may on the GF's Golf, IPA wipe down, C2 applied and a 2nd coat a month later. Applied another coat 3 weeks ago just because. Keep it topped up with diluted C2 at 1:10 / 1:20 once a month and it'll see you through the winter easy. best thing about it is its self cleaning ability, wash down is so simple. A good pressure wash will almost give 100% clean.

I'm currently testing a single coat with no top up on my roof for durability. Beading is not good but protection is still there

cleaning off I'd imaging a strong IPA / pre wax cleanser etc. It's not like C1 that needs to be machined

Cool, thanks for the advice. is that package everything i would need? or are there other products in the range that i would need?

only other 1 I've used is P1 that I struggled to get on with and C3 that leaves a lovely finish but won't be needed as C2 diluted works as a QD for top ups, but will be trying C4 & C5 with my next order

I've been waiting so long I'm almost wasting my current wheel sealant and trim additive so I can order more. But in fairness My wheels need a refurb before I use something like that and there's not a lot of black trim on the clios.

Likewise on the wheels front. The C5 went on the R8 wheels. Blast with the pressure washer and they're clean!

I'm currently using smartwax rimwax topped with 476s  It does the job for maybe a month.

If I had a different colour car I'd probably use nothing but GT products summer and winter, but I don't think you can beat a wax finish on the LY

Yeah I used poorguys/Chem guys (can't remember which) wheel sealant on them. Think it was Chem guys. Pink s**t in a white tub. I had a haircut too.

Want a pressure washer + rotary :(

i usualy use poorboys, brilliant product but like i said im after something that i can put on maybe the beginning to mid september and leave there untill march. with only having to do a quick odd top up to keep it nice and clean!

C2 will last. C5 on the wheels and C4 on the trim.

As I've said a couple of times in threads like this, these products are great for Winter, granted. But they are also perfect for those of us that don't have access to a water source - hence C2 has been a life saver since my move to London.

Forearms

None, had a DA but it was s**t and did nothing. I have an IQ higher than a ham sandwich so doubt I'd burn through. CYC one looks good, £80 hmm

Things like softstart, better motors, lower starting RPMs are the main differences Dave.

Aluco, even with my Forearms, it was heavy.

ive just got that rotary, i've not had chance to use it yet but its not overly heavy. i can imagine that after about 4 hours or so of use that it will get heavy, but i recon ill be having a brew break after every panel.

I used it in a 13 week detail on my S3 when I got it. More than two hours a night and I felt it the next morning.

The car required a lot of machine polishing and stayed in the garage for a long time as time was not on my side. Not something I want to do again. A light rotary will help more than you know tbh. The reason I bought it was as a; a test and b; my Makita kicked the bucket.

ill just have to test it, tbh even if it is a load of crap for the stuff i got with it and the price i payed im more than happy, id just keep it as a back up and look into the CYC rotary if necessary..
