Winter Tyres

With the cold weather aproaching does anyone actually switch to winter type tyres, if so what do you recommend, are they any better than normal tyres ?.
I had quite a few scary moments last winter & was thinking of getting some new tyres to put on over winter.

Do you mean in the snow or just general crap weather? snow tyres are completely different!

Last year I bought some winter tyres for my steelies, cost the same as decent normal tyres but worked so well in dodgy condtions

if your talking about tyres for the rain then I sweer by either goodyear eagle F1's or a set of uniroyals, for snow I really couldn't tell you and as for ice don't reckon tyres make a differnce if u hit it quik ur fuked lol
