Wipers

I recently (2+ months and counting) bought a 182 Cup, moving from a 94 Vauxhall Cavalier.

I’m loving the car and can see from all of the feedback on this website that I made the right choice with my purchase.

There is one little thing that’s annoying my though. Intermittent wipers. There is no control I can find anywhere on the columns or dash to adjust this. I get about half a second before the wipers start a new cycle and the noise of the relay clicking is driving me barmy.

Any hints/suggestions are most welcome.

Something to live with unfortunatly the realy are noisy.
You can adjust the sensitivity of the wipers by twisting the inner bit of the stalk.
Make sure the senors and wipers are clean though if you get grease on them it will mess them up.

There is no adjustment anywhere on the stalks or dash, believe me; I've looked everywhere your would reasonably expect there to be a control. The manual reveals nothing and my chum, who drives a 172 Cup, has spent a lot of time scratching his head over it.

According to http://www.renaultsport.co.uk/roadcars/clio182cup/specification.htm the cup dosen't have rain sensitive automatic wipers . Only the full fat version where you move the right hand stalk down into postion " b " which is the first postion down after the off position . Then on the stalk you have a ring that can determine the speed the wipers work depending on your speed .

I would imagine your stalk ( being a cup ) will just have the normal intermittent wipe , down one position , then another position for a faster speed . It says in the renault manual ( probably written by a French bloke cos it doesn't make that much sense ,lol ) that as you slow down and then to a stop your wipers will slow down then stop until you drive off again . Sounds a bit daft to me though.

Probably somebody with a cup can shed more light on it .

The only problem is that there is no ring for adjustment on the stalk. I've look at my chum's 172 Cup and it’s perfectly visible on his. Mine has to be somewhere, or if it's just set then my car clearly went passed that section of the assembly line on a Friday afternoon. :dapprove:

The 182cup might be a slightly different spec to the 172cup . If you get no definite answer on here give your local dealer a ring or renault uk on :
