Wireless network problem......

I have my desktop computer contected wireless to my Linksys router using a Linksys USB dongle thingy, lol, and it conects fine.

Just bought my Toshiba work laptop home I got today, and am trying to connect that to my wireless router too. However it connects to the router fine, but cannot acquire a network address, hence cannot connect to the net on my laptop. what might be causing this?

I know the interent is fine as I am on my desktop. The Laptop is running XP.

Any suggestions as to what I may need to do?

whats your service provider for internet??

it may need the 28 digit hexodecimal network key and not the passphrase.....

some routers will connect to the network, but for the internet they require the full encryption key.... (common with AOL/netgears routers)

if you dont know the 28 digit key, get the router url, log in on the desktop and check the settings - BUT DONT CHANGE ANYTHING!!!!

or alternatively, re-start the router (switch off and back on after a few minutes

When I click connect on the laptop it onyl asks for the passphrase which I have entered twice as it asks and its fine. Cannot see where i would find theis hexodecimal key on the router settings, nor where i would input it on the laptop once i had it?
