With £5k...

Scutch what's the plan ? I'm confused dude. Your asking which would we go for, for 5k, but you have a 172 already yet you want a 182 or a willy ?
I'd go with sticking with the car you know tbh (the silver 172) plus you have the WR1 up for sale too ?

Gem is selling the 172 and getting a Pug 207/307, as she's past all the hot hatch/VX220/Evo owning now. So her mint 172 is going no matter what. I'd have it but she needs to sell quicker than I do and silver isnt really my suited colour, anyway!

The WR1 is up for sale so I'm not continuing to pay my £250 a month loan, thus saving that cash per month, as we're getting wed next year and looking to buy a new house, too. I think there's about £10k - £11k still left on it so I'd have £5k - 6k ish left to spend on a car.

I've already owned 2 Williams and despite their problems (engine out for any mechanical alteration!) I loved them both.
I also loved my 182 and every time I see a tidy, clean looking 172/182 (much like Christophers and a few others on here, and also my mate who lives local), I contemplate what I could actually do myself if I had the time and money. I absolutely love the WR1, but I dont know if I can justify owning it anymore, and with only 17k on the clock, I think I'm maybe wasting its potential slightly :dapprove:
If it doesnt sell, I'm not fussed at all, as every time I drive it or look at it I'm happy. But it make more sense if it does go.

In a year or two I'll be back in the saddle of a powerful turbo car, but just need to take a time out to afford and save for other things for the time being!

Why not go for something different then?

DC2 for that money or like someone said leave it a couple of months and maybe a cheeky offer on a Trophy will go your way. After owning 3 Clio's myself I would want a change - not sure on what I would go for though.

Prob take a few months to shift the WR1 anyway so plenty of time to make your mind up .

Please, Scutch - have a word! Every new shape of Pug out there looks truly horrendous at the moment. VAG is one of my least appealing marques, but even amongst them, there are some that I could warm to.

Yep I agree, pug's no ta ! I know of folk with them & tbh they are just cheap french cars, they look awful, esp the 307, pug 206's aren't all that reliable either.

Scutch, I know your probably not interested in one, but get Gem into Leon Cupra R, they have come down a lot & aren't bad at all, yeah I read no more hot hatches etc, the aleria motive for that car is that you can steal it for some turbo fun

Gem wanted something far more family orientated, with decent safety ratings and low running costs. She was looking at the Seat Leon Cupra's in her bizarre stage a couple of months ago, but has since realised that it was pointless.

Anyway, the Pug idea is out of the window now, as she put a deposit down on a silver 56 plate Focus Zetec yesterday! lol. We only went to have a nosey around, and came away with a new car. Pick it up in a couple of weeks. Shame the 172 was traded in for only £3k, as it was a proper mint little car, that. I think that was the only disappointment, but Gem is over the moon with the Focus, as its got a 5* NCAP rating and big boot etc.

out of the clios itd be a williams for me such a better car to drive than a 172/182 the sports feel so soft and boring compared to the williams haters with there sports can walk on im not interested ive had a williams 3 a 172 drove ph1s 182s the works and non of them was a patch on my williams.
the williams is a amazing car as you know and they aint slow old dogs are yeah but decent ones aint. but youve had both and for 5k as has been said you can get a dc2 id try one of them first if not then a williams or if you want to be boring a 172.
