Won't start

My car won't start. We've used a diagnostic machine and it says that there isn't a fault. It just won't start. The mechanic said that there's no petrol or spark getting through. I know nothing about cars so any info would be helpful! It's a 1.2 Dynamique.

It like... goes to start but then cuts out.

Starter motor? you checked that?
