I put my Pioneer head unit in today - 50 w x 4 and it appears to have seen off the front passenger speaker lol.

I'm not fussed as I was intending to swap them anyway.

Is it possible to get any degree of bass from a 13cm speaker?

How hard is a sub install in a standard 172?

Cheers

Is your bass to high ? iirc Dajones mentioned to get the best bass on a car is put it to -5, but i just leave mine on 0 as i find it decent enough,

Sub install is rather easy,

2 ways to feed the Live wire from the batter,

- feed it through the bulkhead and use a gromit to block the hole up after
or
- down into the wing, and feed it through wear the door hinge is and in the car,

then just feed the wires to the boot under the carpet etc, some people say you need to run the cables a distance from each other, but iv never found a problem by running the Live/remote/2blue cables in the same place.

Earth position is in the boot on either the left hand side or right, depends on were you put the amp

Bass is set to 4 out of 8 on the HU with treble at 6.

It's only when certain songs come on that the passenger speaker really struggles.

Surely if I set the bass to low then i'd have no bass at all?

Yeah true if you turn the bass down but if you've blown one already keeping the bass on as you have set you'll blow em all by this afternoon lol

I have a set of Renault Speakers here out of an 05 Clio if you are looking for a set to replace the ones you have blown... no idea what they are worth tho.

I'm looking to upgrade them, I don't think much of the renault ones tbh.

Off topic - I have just plugged a 3.5mm jack lead into the AUX wire on the back of my Pioneer DEH55BT and plugged the other end into my IPOD.

Flicking through the HU menu it has no AUX option - just telephone and CD.

Any ideas whats up with it? Do I need to buy a cable from pioneer?

It will either need that function enabling, (Menu Feature AUX ON/OFF)....or the Head Unit will need to be reset, (Press reset button with a pen or disconnect from Power Supply for 10 secs or so)....

I managed to get it working in the end. It was disabled in the menu system, cheers!
