Work this out then!

Just got a load of quotes from confused.com for a 182 and a 172.

The 182 i said was brand new avg 10000miles a year

The 172 was an 03 reg avg 10000miles a year

Lowest price for the 182 was £1842.75

Lowest price for the 172 was £1889.20

How do they work out it is cheaper to insure a faster, newer car than an older one!

Plus thats a bit high as i can get insurance on a 172 with elephant for about £1700!

You are a little bit Mike ! LOL ! At the end of the day the 172 was not for you, the same as the Skoda is not for many people either. It is the great thing about different opinions. Everyone doesnt like the same thing all the time.

Personally, I would not pay that for insurance and never have but then I love my 172 so if you can afford it, do it. If not, dont.

PS I dont know why the 172 is more expensive either ! LOL !

I realise you are not trying to be nasty Dogmaul, its just your opinion.

As for being minted, that couldnt be further from the truth really, but i could afford it.

Also unlike most that own a 172/182 i dont have to pay a mortgage or anything like that. Plus i love my Clio, having a car gives me lots of freedom to do my own thing, and seeing as i dont have to worry about other things to spend my money on, i may as well have a car that i know i am going to enjoy driving/cleaning/wasting money on!

(plus if i do find i cant afford it, then my GF is studying to be a doctor, so when she finishes that i am going to make her buy a V6!! Dont think she knows it yet though!)

Guilbert. I love my cup but i wouldnt spend £1700 a year to insure it..Thats nuts.
Get a cheaper car until the insurance cost goes down.
I wouldnt even spend £1500 to insure my dream car...a 3rd gen RX7, let alone a clio!.
Just my opinion tho

  don't

guilbert u gay, u know that £1800 could be better spent on other things ;-)

anyway with ur elephant quote did u try putting on an older woman on2 the policy with full no claims and no crashes in last 5 years??

should bring it down a fair bit if u aint, and if u dont know any women then just make 1 up 4 now just 4 quotes sake

also admiral at moment seem 2 b quoting slightly less on exact same details i found :)

Essexlad, £1800 could be spent on sending you to manners school! You know full well you are the Gay one!

I always put my mum on the insurance cause she uses my car (doesnt have her own!)

And Elephant and Admiral are the same company, so they are going to be fairly close on quotes

i paid 1800 on insurance for my first 16v when i was 17

but 1700 for a 21 seems high, i got a quote at 22 with 3yrs no claims and was only 650

Well although i got my license at 17, i didnt get my first car till i was nearly 20, so i only have 1 years NCB, i think it should be done on how long you have had your license and not had a crash or claim, not how long you have been insured, but then i suppose crap drivers could not have a car for a few years and then get cheap insurance and total their car in days or something.
