Would this concern you?

Got a set of wheels in the garage with tyres, but the tyres appear to be perishing. Not much, but enough to make me think about changing them even though there is loads of tread left .

I was thinking maybe they'd be okay on the back providing I drove sensibly?
What you guys reckon, bin them?

I'd drive on them.
The thing is, if they were on the car you'd never notice and carry on as usual. It's only because you're so close up and now you're worried.

i'd drive on them just keep an eye on them

Which to be fair you should do anyway - look out for cuts, nicks, any crap stuck in the tread etc.

Maybe that's the biker in me though. I religiously check my bike tyres, because you don't carry a spare.

I'd be happy to drive on them. Not sure I'd be throwing it around any tracks anytime soon though.

spare tyre, or spare skull?

Hurr hurr all bikers are gunna die hurr hurr

Really not appropriate is it considering people in cars drive like arseholes as well, don't they?

Not only that you have no idea what bike I ride nor how I ride it.

As it stands I ride a 9BHP 125. You can't hoon on one of those. I've tried. Nearly hit 70 once, downhill, tucked into the tank.

Many of them, yes.
That said, the essex biker squad that went past me during the summer, 4 of them were only using their rear wheels....down a main road, surrounded by traffic.
So dickhead standards aren't unique to the 4-wheeled motorist.

Trust me mate, I hate them as much as you. Gives all riders a bad name when sometimes you just want to get from A to B.

The bikers who annoy me most are the 16yr old on mopeds riding like they're Marc Marquez, weaving through traffic and then holding you up as soon as the road opens up.

Bit of an uncalled for rant there.

I'm pretty sure he was just pointing out the fact that if you're on a bike there's a lot more chance of getting a serious injury if a tyre fails than when in a car.

I don't ride bikes but I know if I got a blowout the last thing on my mind would be "oh I don't have a spare to change this when I'm finished falling over" ;)

Whoa whoa!
back it up there speedy!

I actually meant that you religiously check your tyres because if you get a problem with one on a bike, theres a lot less metal / airbag to protect you!
I was trying to make light of the situation, so sorry if that came across the wrong way!
Although I don't ride a motorbike myself (because the scare the s**t outta me!) plenty of my friends do, and I've seen what happens when it all goes wrong!

You're right, I have no idea of what bike you ride or your capabilities, so I made no reference to either of those points!
For all I know you've got bigger stones and more talent than Guy Martin, Rossi and Foggy all rolled into one

I had some tyres that were perished many years ago. Carried on driving the car thinking it would be fine, until one blew out at speed on the motorway one day.
