wont you just need a better connection?

are you running the xbox wirelessly too? would be a bit quicker if you plug it in.

xbox is wireless, not possible to run cable.connection on xbox is fine when laptop is off .the minute you put laptop on it just seems to suck the signal from x-box.

whats the daughter doing on the computer?

Streaming vid's on bebo or youtube?

TBH you need to run the xbox on a cable to rule out wireless strength problems 1st and then see if your ISP can upgrade your speed.

Check if your router supports QOS.

The laptop can't "steal" the signal but if it is downloading/uploading a lot it can cause problems with online play.

Or are you saying the xbox just doesn't connect at all when the laptop is in use ?

KDF, the x-box showing good green signal and when laptop connects the x-box drops to poor red signal ,the x-box does connect when laptops in use just signal is poor and affects online gaming.

So its the connection between the router and xbox thats the problem?

Not the speed of your internet?

Easy way to test this would be to temprorarly plug either the xbox and or laptop in and see if they both work okay.

Browse to the router and check what version your on first In IE go to either 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1. Think the generic user name and pass for Netgear is iirc admin/password or administrator/password.

Might also be worth checking the firmware on the laptop wireless card.

Yup follow the link realnumber 1 gave you.

The user guide/FAQ is pretty easy to follow.

Check you have the latest firmware for your version router.
Then check/change you Wireless Channel, probably set to either 6 or 7 as default.

Try going to Channel 1 or 11.
