Xbox 360 - Component or VGA?

yes, i have got both cables.

mine looks 10x better with vga than it does with component, but other people find the opposite.

i think at the end of the day it depends on your tv.

agreed, VGA much better than Component, I found the edges of objects to be pixely on component, they are totally sharp and the picture is brighter on VGA.

Samsung HD 42" Plasma.

i actually have a widescreen dell 24" monitor (2407wfp). it has vga, dvi, composite, svideo, and component inputs.

obviously being foremost a monitor it does a much higher resolution than a tv (1920x1200), although my 360 runs at 1920x1080 through the vga cable.

Well my Toshiba 37WLT66 will only support up to 1280x1024. Do you think its worth changing from 1080i to that? ^

you can get vga cables fro about £15, why not just buy one and if it's not any better then £15 isn't too much to waste?

Theres also the added thing that it upscaled normal DVD's if you use it as a DVD player.

Set it to your standard resolution that way the TV has no scaling to do so the picture "should" therefore be better.

However it depends on your tv as someone else has already said i prefer the VGA cable. But bare in mind you cant play original xbox games via the vga cable it just wants to continually update them I find. Great if your not arsed about playing the originals. Bugger if you are so leave the component plugged in as well if you do play original games.

I asked about one a while ago as well a few people that had tried the cheaper cables said to be sure to buy the official one as it does give a better picture.

i prefer component, find it has better colours, the vga was washed out.

As has been siad, need ot try both really, its all down to the tv you have and personal preference.

no sorry, borrowed one of someone to test it and kept the component in the end.

i heard the vga is better on a plasma i think. didn't float my boat anyway.

i mean if i had a hdtv id go for that!!! But to be honest PC monitors are infact hdtvs
