Just got a new TV too so i can play 60hz games :(

:( whats the process guys to get it sorted, bought it just before xmas 2005?

Ignore the hot towel, just get it fixed and then you'll get the HDMI port.

Just call MS and say its broke, youve got 3 year warranty for RRoD so it cant be up yet as its only been out for 2.

Dont bother with any of the short term fixes.

I got the rings, rang Microsoft and they sort everything really quickly. UPS came and took it away (all paid for by MS) and it was back within 2 weeks with a brand new mainboard.

Plus they renew your 3 year red-ring warranty and give you a months free Gold Live Membership. Their handling the whole situation very very well.

The towel trick will get it working again in the meantime, but get it back for a repair.

The system will have logged the red circle problem in the event log (or whatever it uses in the 360) so MS will fix it for you FOC

LOL @ handling it very well, thats rubbish customer service, its 2 weeks minimum and the reason they give you a month live membership is because its a service you pay for so have to give you some sort of sweetner for it taking so long.

Sony, you phone them up and a new PS3 lands on your doorstep the following day, now thats customer service! With the MS thing being such a well known problem you would think they would keep stocks of the refubed consoles in this country so that when they get a RROD, something they know a lot about they could ship you a new one next day, but no it takes weeks, very poor service for something that is very much their fault and they couldn't be bothered to fix or even admit it was a problem until they were cornered about it!

I'm sorry, but that is just not true. Next day delivery? That would have to be a courier, and given the amount of money Sony lost on the PS3, I doubt they have to money to spunk on that. Also, would fraud be a huge problem with this? No console inspections at all?

Dont get me wrong, I'm not a Microsoft fanboy, and after playing a PS3 I would quite like one, but they are far from a nice company to deal with.

At the end of the day, he has a 360, and needs it fixing. Ring MS and they'll sort you out :D.

someone on here had that very experience of next day delivery of a new one so its not a myth!

I've had a psp since the japanese launch and had nothign go wrong with it, sony products are very good, when i bought my 360 i didn;t know it would definitely go wrong which is what i had to come to terms with eventually.

won't find him here, I have a 360 and play on it more than i do my ps3, the ps3 is the better machine though, just have more mates with 360's so i buy games on that system to be able to play online with, i would prefer it if they all owned ps3's as i wouldn't have to spend £40 quid a year just to play online.

Ye, they produced a machine for 2 years with the same fault they knew about on day one !! PMSL.. they deffinatly care about the consumer... NOT !

Whats with the 60hz stuff? My tv is apparently 50hz but when i set the xbox up i had to change to pal60 to play games or something? Can i not play all games?

i gather its due to overheating?? is that right? so surely playing for 3-4 hours at a time...which is my absolute maximum cause i actually have a life too...it wont overheat??

I haven't recieved any poor service from MS, I infact took my xbox back to game the other week and said it was broke (Even though it wasnt) and they replaced it for free and I now have the new HDMI version.

I know that is not MS directly but still, I suck Bill Gates c**k because I think the 360 is awesome?

I didn't really factor in the customer service thing when buying the 360 to be honest. I just wanted the better machine and better games.

No it doesn't it has affected a lot don't get me wrong but i think the newer models seem fine as well as some of the first models so it's really hit or miss.

lots of people didn't buy them from a high street shop so can't just take them back and get them to swap it, it has to go off to ms.

renault bad customer service, well thats like anything, depends on the dealer, i have a great dealer and have never had a problem really with renault, they have always treated me well and done things they didn't even need to do for me, even though they know i track my car so i couldn't be happier with owning a renault hence why in my live 4 out of my 6 cars have been renault. I didn't buy it knowing there was a fault that would mean it was likely to die though, even though the manufacturer knew about it and couldn't be bothered to do anything about it, not even a recall.

tbh, i'll stop mentioning the ps3 in 360 threads when it happens the other way around too and people asking for advice on buying a ps3 don't get hounded by people saying buy a 360.

This thread has decayed into nothingness, the poor original poster only wanted and answer to his question.

Is the 360 good? Yes.
Is the PS3 good? Yes.

Does the original poster have a question about a PS3? Nope...

Send it off to MS and they will deal with it. You cant send a 360 off to Sony, so I dont think their customer service department should really be up for debate here.

About 1 in 3 is the failure rate of the 360. I had one fail 5 minutes into watching a DVD.

hey u lot hijacking my tread ;) lol. Rang Mircosoft this moring, sent me the label to stick on box couple of hours latter, rang UPS and there coming for it in morning, thats not bad going :) Bloke at UPS said when i told him it was going to microsoft "is it an xbox" hed been dealing with them all day apprenlt, nice to no there reliable.
 
Wrap your 360 in a towel and it works if you have the 3 lights of death but still breaks after apparently lol.

Exactly, its a very good system they've got going. I thought they dealt with it very well indeed.

Same happened with me, the UPS guy had sent his off the week before, and had been doing Xboxes all week :D.

Whenever someone mentions the 360 your straight in there talking about how you don't get that poor service from sony, the PS3 is the better machine overall bla bla bla bla.

The facts still stand and until they don't I wont change my mind. Also you mention how it comes down to the dealer when it comes down to customer service. Do the dealers make the cars? do the dealers cause the reliablilty problems that almost every Renult owner faces at some point? no I don't think so.

As for commiting fraud and being a pikey, do you think I should of paid for a brand new one? I took advantage of the situation and got a brand new one with no hassle at all from Game. Excellent customer service from them.

Actually, you bought a Renault knowing (or not knowing) that the dashboard lights on them can pick and choose whether to come on or not, a fault Renault are aware of but cannot fix as yet.

They haven't stopped making the cars...

I too feel double standards. Good dealer or not it's still a French car and they still haven't got a clue with this electricity lark.
