xbox 360 vs ps2

Yes, massive. The Xbox had the edge of the PS2 in terms of graphic quality.

360 graphics are very much like current gen PC graphics.

It depends what type of game you like to play and what spec your PC is.

For me probably the biggest thing the 360 brings to the table is Xbox Live. It really is spot on. I game with people off here and from work and it's so easy. Even if you aren't gaming with someone you can still chat to them online. And as much as I hate to admit it, the Achievements system works really well. It feels good to get them.

I know I'll have a PC, 360 and a Wii. PS3 is looking less likely the more I see of it. I'll just borrow one from work I reckon. That's a real turnaround considering I didn't buy an original Xbox but had a PS1 from day one and still have my PS2.

60% of Xbox 360 owners are using their console online, although some of those are just using the free silver membership package.

Wait and keep playing the pc mate. Dont buy an xbox before xmas for sure, as with the release of ps3, and xmas bargains, it'll depreciate like timeshares in holiday homes in the lebanon.

that sort of money is too much for any games console really (althought the PS2 was £300 when it first came out iirc), luckily I got my premium pack 360, second hand about a month or 2 after they came out for just over £200! nice!

is it that bad?

Ive owned one since christmas and if i'd have bought it with my own my i would be very disapointed, every now and then it jerks and the range of games is really poor up to now. Yes the graphics are good and even smother on an HD tv, but the money you pay for it is just silly at the moment.

Can't compared PS2 and 360.

My PC made Prey look a tad sharper (if you put your nose on the screen) but the frame rate was way too inconsistant.

The PC doesn't have the variety of games and the real killer for me is XBox Live and I reckon that service must have Sony spitting blood. So easy to game or talk with people plus as has been said you have the achievements, can see how far other people have got and what scores or laptimes they have achieved and even race against their ghosts. Then you have Xbox Live Arcade with SF2 coming soon etc...

I might get a Wii but probably not if it isn't high def and PS3 is not even getting a look-in here. Same graphics as 360 but with a questionable online service combined with a pi$$ take price tag.

All this talk of lack of good games on the 360? There are loads of good games

£260 for a premium, overpriced? Dont think so. That sort of money wouldnt even buy you a top end Graphica card in a pc, then there is Xbox Live, Xbox live arcade, media functionaility.

I personally think the 360 is GREAT value for money. Lets face it £260 ISNT that much.

As for Wii I defo want one, I dont think it will be Hi def though which doesnt bother me, as Nintendo are allways about Playability. I mean look at the DS, it rapes the PSP in sales week after week yet technically is way inferior!

I've used both and seen both their pros & cons. I'm a PC person through and through - ask me if I want to spend £400 on a top-flight gfx card or an XBox 360 and several extras and the gfx card will win everytime.

It comes down to what Lee says - what you want and what you currently have. I still think there are defined genres that do cross the platforms that well. Take Civilization 4. I can't think that would ever do well on a 360 or PS2 but it makes for a great game on the PC. Similarly (and I'm sticking my neck out here) I don't think GTR when its released will be on par with either GTR or GTR2 on the PC.

I see consoles as a much more sociable gaming platform. I've heard XBox Live is easy to use and there's nothing better than a few of you having a bash against each other, even when sat in the same room. I think for quick-fix, instant gaming fun, consoles will always win. More elaborate and involved games tend to appear first on the PC and stay there. There's always exceptions - Oblivion and the likes, but that's a good rule of thumb.
