Advice would be great thanks

u can get cheapos off ebay which jsut make your lights look bluey white or you can get good ones like osram or phillips which are worth the extra money. the range rovers and expensive cars use HID Xenons which flash hundreds of times a second and you can actually get these for clios off ebay but you have to plug in an adapter box aswell.

but bear in mind when going for either the hid or the bulb upgrade option that both are illegal without projector headlights. Not certain about the upgrade bulbs but an aftermarket hid kit will fail an mot if it isn't installed in a projector headlight

buy the xenon headlight units complete that come on a 172/182/v6 IMO, anything else looks dodgy if you're trying to do proper xenon look...

I agree with my man up top!
BUT a hid headunit will set u back £400
while the bulbs are £15

try buying power bulbs they do the job..
But myself would buy the headlight unit

wtf

That sounds like b****cks to me lol

I thought they just used a gas that emitted light when you passed a current through it?

That's exactly right. Xenon is a noble gas, each of the noble gases emit a different colour when you pass a current through it (hence the need for a ballast) for example neon gas tends to glow blue. Xenon emits a white light.

I know they do have gas in the bulbs but its not b****cks actually they do flash "the light is generated by a spark which jumps across a gap hundred of times a second"

Da

  Less
The gas is in the arch tube, there's no spark as such, it simply archs from one anode to another.

An arch is entirely different to a spark ;)
