Xenon headlights fitted to my 1.2?

Would they fail the mot if i bought a pair? Would. Need washers aswell? Just a newbie question, sorry guys.

Technically yes they should but your car will probably pass with them fitted.

Technically you'd need washers and auto levelling. However you can't check auto levelling generally. And you could buy a set of washer blanks or washers and put them on your bumper. The blanks look like they'll pop up and spray that way..

However, I'm not sure if they've abolished the rule of "not there so can't fail it"

I put the lights on and make sure they wash if there xenons when i test.

i had my lights on when i took my mot and i had no problem

when it comes to mot's if they are not fitted they cant fail its like if you have a seatbelt jam up in the back all you have to do is remove the back seats and belts ( not recommended but it does work )

Are you sure with the above post?

With your example linking to the lights.


If you took the seats and belts out yes, it would pass. However if you left the seats in, or the belts in it would fail. The same for this, if you have the lights without the washers it should fail, if you have no xenon and no washers (with normal lights) then it would pass.

im a qualified mechanic that was also helping a mot tester so i learned a few things


there are alot of loop holes in mot's to get a car to pass

not every car has washers for the headlights so why would they fail a car on something it doesn't have its like your expecting mot testers to know everything about every car out there which is impossible my car passed without any issues with these headlights the only thing i was asked to do is raise the headlights since they was too low because i have friends with stupid low cars moan about my lights shining at their mirrors lol
