Yet another De-Cat Question....

I know this might cause arguments but. Which is better:

A K-Tec Racing unsilenced decat pipe.

or

A K-Tec Racing silenced decat pipe

or

A Hill Power Decat pipe

Which gives better:

Performance/sound/anything else you can think of?

I know Hill Power are the people to go to for induction kits, engine tuning and chips (no fish and chips jokes here) and K-Tec for your exhausts and other gubins. But the de-cat is one I cant decide on. Hill Power know there stuff and did use to make exhausts. There chips might like there de-cat more. But K-Tec (apparantly, not gone one...yet) make an excellent exhaust.

So over to you guys

Paul

if you can put up witht he unbearable drone of your exhaust all the time go for a straight through de-cat if you like a little respite from the noise best bet is to get a silenced de-cat

As ive found out, fitting a de-cat (K-Tecs unsilenced) actually reduces torqe through 1st and 2nd however vastly improves power at high speeds and putting foot down in 5th from a cruising speed.

However i prefer to be put back in my seat in first and second rather than be quicker at silly illegal speeds. Up to you, but RTs had cats actually fitted over the lower spec Clios so you may see improvements at every speed, as thats how they were originally built to run, however the bore through the cat is better for a 16v than the too bigger of bore de-cat pipe. Thats my recent experiance anyway.

Well straight thru pipes are straight thru pipes, it aint brain surgery, youll get no more or less gains with whatever one you pic. Its down to what bambam said.

Youll also get less torque from 99.99999999999% of aftermarket exhausts

  Suzuki SV650

Just had a Powerflow cat-back system with a de-cat (ohh err?!!) and I cant really notice anything major. Not had a proper thrash with her yet but I dont think the £210 has made much difference....?

Slightly disappointed, although it looks good and makes a nice sound.

God i didnt know there was 1, 000, 000, 000, 000 different types of Xorsts!

Yeah but you get more BHP dont you, cause ive heard everyone whos had a Scorpion (smaller bore than diameter of tail pipe) Xorst has made a noticable improvement. Not clued up but the lad before me who i know to be honest and a decent driver, actually said the exhaust made a BIG improvement.

im not doubting what he said, but you know what its like when you get a new mod...you imiagine the difference, clouded by the rally-style roar it makes !
