Your photography history/ timeline

I had a play in Lightroom this evening to track down some images and was surprised by how many photos I've taken over the years.
I thought it might be interesting to see what other people are up to as there is quite a mix of people on CS from pros to people who shoot as a hobby, so please add yours too.

My first digital camera was a Sony DSC-V1. It was a bridge camera with 5MP, infra-red night vision and was a great way to get back into photography after not having done anything with a camera since I had left college. It had a screw in wide angle filter and took my old SLR flash in manual on the top. It cost silly money back in the day, but it did everything I needed it to. The night vision was ace for filming.

Canon 5DII: 19000 photos
Canon 40D: 14500 photos (also had a broken shutter at one point)
Canon 350D: 10500 photos
Sony DSC-V1: 5074 photos
Others = Borrowed cameras, the wifes Ixus and phones.

I've not used lightroom for long enough, but my camera history is a short one.

When I was a wee-lad I had a Vivitar ViviCam 3715 for about 3 years. Following that, I didn't have a camera for ages before I got my first iPhone. That reminded me of how much I liked taking pictures and I got a Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ3.

The Lumix was short lived, as the slippery slope that is photography soon had me buying a Canon EOS 600D.

It would terrify and depress me in equal measure if I wrote down every piece of camera gear I've owned, as presumably it would comfortably outweigh the value of cars I've owned in the same timespan.

Started on Sony Cybershots, first a 3.2MP, then went wild and got a 5MP which I dropped in the sand in Thailand.
Replaced with a Samsung L100 that managed another 2 years or so...
Then got a DSLR, Canon 550D which I've taken about 33,000 shots in just over a year with!
Lens-wise I have a 50mm F1.4, 55-250, 10-22 and 18-55 kit lens already!

It’s quite a while on from this, so I thought I’d resurrect the thread now that I’m some way on from my first Camera.

This isn’t inclusive of other items such as tripods, filters etc. Just the main stuff.

So my first DSLR (after a few crappy compacts from way back):



Nikon D40 w/ 18-55mm Kit lens, 55-200mm VR and 35mm F1.8G,

then Nikon D5100 w/18-55mm Kit lens, 55-200mm VR, 35mm F1.8G and Sigma 50mm F1.4,

then Nikon D7000 w/18-55mm Kit lens, 55-200mm VR, 35mm F1.8G, Sigma 50mm F1.4, Sigma 10-20 and Sigma 100-300mm F4,

(Then over to Canon which is my current stage) Canon 5D Mark II w/Sigma 50mm F1.4, Canon 70-200mm F2.8L and Sigma 15mm F2.8 Fisheye.

Bought my first DSLR in Dec'11 which was a Canon 600D, 18-55mm and 50mm lens.
Upgraded to a 5D mk III in Dec'12 with a 24-105L, Lencarta Ringflash, Elinchrom Dlite 100 lighting, various backdrops and accessories etc
