Yozza too loud for track :(

  SchwepTek™
Got noise tested at Castle Combe this weekend and achieved 103db! :S

The limit was 98db but i only have a 182 mani, sports cat and yozza sports system.

What can i do for track days?

old rag up the exhaust FTW, and then once you nail it out onto the track it will blow out, job done ;)

mine was 93 db with cat still in and a blueflame cat back, most cars were quiet on static and 300000000000000 times as loud when on track lol

it was 112 db when my mate had the car my blueflame was a lot quieter. I was going to swap mine with the lad you bought the car off as mines only used on road.

  Clio 172 Cup!
My Blue flame back box is a bit Loud for my liking had db insert in it when I got the Car I removed them and it went a lot louder so they do a good job any body want to swap for a quieter back box Lol! ;)

we use supertraps on the lambos at work just to get them through the static test, 2 bolts to get it off, job done ;)

4500rpm isn't 3/4's rpm though?

i've seen allsorts to blag it through noise, baked bean tin is the most common!

Depends if they go by individual cars or take an average. I imagine they are clamping down on it a bit more as 82-89db is road legal, anymore is NOT road legal, so all the Yozzasport system are NOT road legal. Usually they will ask you what the max rpm is and then use 3/4 rpm as a rough guide, but I can see that changing.

Check this: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/8112905.stm

Most aftermarket systems wont be road legal, some will be no where near.

I'm surprised you failed it mate, some of those EK9's and Evo's were proper loud, wouldn't have thought they were quieter than yours?

When did this come in for cars? I know there's something in the MOT rules about testers discretion when it comes to the noise level an exhaust is giving off, but no limits as such.

My K-tec exhaust seems to get a little more quiet at 4000-4500 so when they ask me to rev it to that i knew i would be fine.
Mine was 96db (static) at bedford. but they said i was so so close to setting off the drive by sensors. (but i never did)

Won't work as at say Donington noise meters are round circuit.

1 black flag & warning .

2 black flags & it's home time:D

Saw a chap do this at combe with an R33 GTR, managed one lap before being flagged

noise testing is a weird old thing, if the wind is blowing the wrong way you can pass, if its blowing the opposite way you can fail etc etc etc
