Coming together nicely, has the enthusiasm come back now then?
Thanks mate. Erm, not sure I'd say the enthusiasm has come back totally as I'm forcing myself to go into the garage to do stuff to it. But I am enjoying myself when I'm in there.
There's a potential job change coming up on the horizon for me, so this will definitely help to bring the enthusiasm up to full speed again. My current job is what's generating the lack of interest at present, so I'm hopeful that a change will see me right.

You'll be fine mate. All you've got to do is remain relaxed and commit to the corners at the same speed as me.

Your the camera car anyway. Already discussed it with BIGASH as your car has the power to carry 2 of you round! Lol!

If we can screw 400lbft out of the Meg it'll be up to the job haha

Scares the bejesus out of me! [emoji23]

Would love to do the loom in my track car though, just to simplify the loom alone.
This is my interior loom that's been simplified and rewrapped.

My advice is - re-wrap your original loom to tidy it up and forget about it. You just can't save any noticeable amount of weight from doing the Clio loom unless you rip it all out and start again.

Very nice Mark, looks great in the bay. Though this time may have been better spent replying to my pm lol. Would like to see this in the metal some time.

When are you planning the 'ring trip for? I went for the first time this year and am very tempted to go again as some friends are going over Easter weekend again.

Ha ha! Don't worry mate, I'll be replying to that tonight!

'Ring trip is planned for 2016.......that's about as far as it goes atm tbh. It'll be mid summertime I imagine. Got to plan it around @not normal dan's wedding and @BIGASH's über busy work schedule.

Nothing worse than being p!ssed off at work all day you then never feel like doing anything when you get home, sometimes you just need a change of scenery.
I'm at that stage now where a change is what I need.

Looking good mate, you could have this running by the weekend ;) and mapped the week after!! I want to see what these damn R3 cams are like!!!
Should get mine back this week with a standalone now, will make for a better comparison and I can judge what cams to use next!!

Looking awesome.

So you run it with cheap as f**k mineral oil for 100 miles and that's all that's needed? Do you need to do any specific procedure to run it in with this oil?

Then onto proper oil for mapping?

Lol @ up and running by the weekend!! Maybe if I could be arsed, yes, but I can't.

Is this the all singing all dancing standalone? Are you still running the dbw tb? I can't remember if you are.

On a different note, I came across this picture whilst I was scanning through them on my phone. It's already been posted, but gives a good idea of how much the wiring has come on.

Well the running in period is surrounded in mystery mate. Some recommend a 1000 miles, some recommend just start it up and knock the s**t out of it from day one. There's more opinions out there than members of ISIS!

On every engine I've built, its always gone straight on to the engine dyno and been mapped. Usually have a running in map put on them where they alter the loads and rpm for around 1hr. After that it's a case of drop the oil, swap the filter and refill it with the good stuff.

You are relying on the friction generated by the mineral oil to bed stuff in - rings in particular. If you go fully synthetic from the get go, it's too slippery and doesn't allow the rings to bed in properly.

As far as a running in procedure goes, you should alter the loads and never let the engine labour, so use the rpm to get up to speed and not get into 5th gear at 30mph! I had a brand new Astra vxr back in '06 which I ran in meticulously for..........................the 15 minutes it took me to get to the motorway. After that it was given revs up to 5k and minimal boost for 15 minutes. From then on in I abused it. Made 246 bhp on the rollers with no mods, just a standard car.

You're possibly as lazy as me!

Yep it's an SC using DBW TB, wasn't a case of just bashing the Meg one in as needed new can work and harness apparently - still not sure if it's running as yet, wasn't when I spoke on Monday still needed the VVT stuff doing. The plan was to pick up on Friday so we'll see.
I'll be able to make a more informed decision on the cams though when it's running and seeing what yours does is especially interesting.

I ran my last engine in on Mineral oil, and this one got a real boggo semi-synth. Need to give it large a fair amount as like you say you need the rings to wear in and seal properly.

I feel your pain doing the loom mate, took me ages to get it all looking neat

😊.. No wonder you have problems Steve, there appears to be a turbo where I have a battery.

I think it's the only photo I have of it, Specky took it when I was getting my running in map, just used gate pressure that's why the boost solenoid is disconnected and the vac pipes is off.

Must admit I pop in here often to see how your getting on with yours, think your the N/A equivalent of me LoL

As you can see, I have a lot of photos of mine! Lol!

Lol @ N/A equivalent to yours as well! I don't think I'll be continuing with the development once it's up and running tbh. The chassis though will continue to evolve as I've got a few tweaks to carry out.

I've got one more "refinement stage" over winter then that will be it for me also.

Chassis wise mines set up for swift road use, I'm on some new B14s at the moment with whiteline bar and the 295mm Wilwood kit. I'm tempted with the AP caliper set up but it seems excessive when what I have works so well.

I've still got my Sachs but refurb prices are getting quite silly at the moment so I'm holding of getting them done.
