All my seats out. OMFG!

  RS Twingo 133
The rails on my passenger seat are bust so I had to take my passenger seat out today.... so I thought I'd take the back seats out too and see what difference it made to performance.

UN BELL EVE ABLE!

The car felt so much difference and just made me realise even more that I never want a heavier car. Weight makes so much difference to not only your power to weight but also how the car changes direction and brakes. Don't know how much all my seats weighed, but the front Recaro was surprisingly heavy. Oh and I obviously took out the Isofix bar etc. Then I must have hoovered another kilo of dust and crap out from under where the seats were.

In the picture you'll see where they have roughly welded in a patch to cover the 172 wheel well (bit shoddey if you ask me!).

The whole job took me about 40 minutes, maybe 50 including hoovering, but you have to try this just once in your owner experience.

It's scarily noisey too but the weirdest thing was when I went to reverse off the drive and instinctively went to put my arm around the passenger seat and it wasn't there!

I would love to do this but the rear would raise up due to it being lighter so the stance of the car would look daft and I would probably be able to fit my head in the wheel arch ugh!

If I get coilies the seats will be out in 40 seconds let alone 40 minutes lol.

  None :(
I did the same, (apart from front passanger) and i noticed the difference, was great :) I was also supprised how heavy the rear seat belts were together (for seat belts).......

But Dynamique+ is correct, my rear arches! OMG! lol its high, i bought a rear strut bar, helped a little round the roundabouts ;)

So lowering is my next purchase me finks :D i'm no way putting the back seats back in.

I've done this too.
Removed the rear bench, and I starting to strip the interior now too. I think I can justify it now Im starting to do more trackdays :)

I'll be replacing the Recaros with some lighter buckets soon too! Cant wait!

10-15kg WTF? Surely the seats weigh more than that.

Did this to my old mk1, was a totally different car after that

recaro's do weigh quite a bit.....rear bench though, its just a block of foam! uprights for the rear arent much heavier either

To those 'mocking' this weight saving, have you taken out these items and tried to life them all up!? They're bloody heavy, the rear bench is surprisingly heavy too for what it is!

yeah i have, im circa -250kg in mine at the moment...that loss makes a difference..

I had the seats out my Mk2 at one point though, front seats = were heavy, rears = more of a placebo tbh!

Sorry then, but everyone in this thread apart from you are trying to have a normal discussion, and you just keep coming in with total rubbish.

If you havent got anything to contribute, just dont post anything!

lol, and your the judge of it are you, all ive said it doesnt make much difference, which it doesnt, so no need for you to start going all heman on it

I think it was quite obvious I wasnt referring to F1 cars lol. Pretty sure they dont come with AC and CD players as standard ;)

What about Clio cup racers?

Sorry to keep going on other chaps, Im quite enjoying this! :)

lol! You can edit your posts all you want, pretty sure you realise you wrong now.

Im off now, im going to take some more bits out of my car to get an extra 1mph top speed!

My rear seats alone weighed upto 30kg on the scales!

Just be careful under heavy braking and cornering mate, the backend can get abit snakey with so little weight there.

I remember doing this years ago in a 1.2 Dynamique and the difference was unreal, makes you realise just how heavy the stuff in your car is

It seems you have from every other post you've made in here, im guessing you've taken your seats out and thought it made no difference? Fair enough, people are different, cars are different, but it doesnt mean its right to come on here slating what other people have done.
