Re: Cambelt Con/Rip off tactics.

Thanks for the advice Chaz.

Is it ok to reuse my oil if I put it through a sieve or is a sieve not necessary? I don't do many acceleration cycles so the oil should be ok right, just Renault ripping me off for new oil every 12k!

Re: Cambelt Con/Rip off tactics.

Not even going to bother trying to argue with someone who has clearly no knowledge of what they are preaching.

Also I think, in the future, leave it to your mate to educate people. He has clearly said something to you which you have not understood and has then been lost in translation when you have written it back in this tread. I'm just glad you haven't named the poor guy as you would of embarrassed him beyond belief putting his name to your idiotic ramblings.

Thanks for Your Advice. It would be great to get back on topic now. Thanks

no, calling a main dealer is NEVER the BEST thing to do. putting your testicles in a guillotine is often regarded as a better idea

Re: Cambelt Con/Rip off tactics.

What topic, your blatant cambelt wind up?[/QUOTE
Not a wind up at all You all believe what you want about cambelts get them changed every month if You want I don`t care tbh. I am just trying to save people paying for work that does not need to be done. But everyone suffers fear of engine failure. the actual cost of engine replacement is not much more than some garages charge for cambelt replacement.

Re: Cambelt Con/Rip off tactics.

The only person who needs to be feared here is your mate giving out quite simply, incorrect advice. If I had an employee giving advice like that he'd be down the job centre by now.

Ok tbh I Have bought several cars off from the olympian group and there cambelt change cost was only 75 quid because if you have the know how and the correct timing tools it is no more than 1 hour 30 mins work.

Re: Cambelt Con/Rip off tactics.

On a sport or a 1.4? 1.4 yeh no more than 2 hours. £75 however, you can't even buy the parts for that. And it's a water pump replacement too. Or do those not fail either?

Is this what drugs do Dave? Give you false beliefs etc?

I once thought a crisps packet followed me home whilst on acid,
but i've never got so wasted I thought an engine swap was around the same price as a cambelt change.

Re: Cambelt Con/Rip off tactics.

I would just like to state again I would be very grateful if this could stay on topic. And not go into a ego based bullying session on me. Just to remind everyone this is a factual thread based on the cambelt replacement schedule. 75k should be the maximum. But age should not matter if well serviced.

Thread went gold...

on the verge of going platinum!

all it needs is this mug to keep digging. If his cambelt snapped however, that's an irony bomb Munson would be proud of!

The only fact in this thread is that you are either a troll, r****d or both.

Mate seriously, this forum is full of car nuts that spend a fortune on their cars,
have them meticulously serviced, wax them every week,
and loads of them....I repeat....LOADS OF THEM,
have had cambelts snap way before the service schedule.

Yeh a belt change can be more expensive, but the resell value of your car will be a lot more with a FSH rather than an engine change

you've missed the point by about 8 million miles. You're wrong in ever single detail so your arguement and reasonning is laughable. Take it on the chin and walk away

You know a thread on CS is comedy gold when it gets 200 posts in 2 hours.

Ok Sorry. From what I have been told. Your cambelt will certainly not snap before 75k If You stick to the correct service schedule e.g 18k each service. However if You have driven the car very hard the cambelt could snap at 80k or maybe 90k. So i would say the best thing to do is to stick to the proper services mate. I am sure it will all be fine :)
