you always map for max torque throughout the rev range. then power is determined by the RPM.
they are linked using the following formula.
Horsepower = (torque x RPM)/ 5252
so if an engine makes 170 ft lb at 5500rpm it will make about 178 bhp at 5500rpm.
say that torque drop slightly to 160...
you will never have back pressure problems with a turbo, a decat will be fine.
I would get it, much better noise ;) and power, and probably the odd flame.
You do need to come back and get a proper filter and air-con delete kit though.
