Cool, i'd also recommend you take to a few bodyshops and gather opinions and prices. As for chips away i wouldn't bother as if it need paint- then they'll do it outside and wind/dirt in the air dont mix well for a good paint job and often leads to crap loads of overspray.
why not just get a pre-wash that is designed to lift the bugs off? I'd try to avoid 'scrubbing' as it will damage the paint.
Something like Poorboys Bug Squash springs to mind, spray abit of that on, leave it to soak in for a few mins- and then pressure wash off.

Dude the sonus grey can be very harsh i.e. inflict marring- i'd recommend using sonus green.
Some shampoo's eat clay alive so make sure its very weak.
If you get polish/wax on the trim then use some APC or AG Bug and Tar Remover or something of that nature :)
