what about the engine mounts? are they all the same? if it was to be done, would the gearbox thing be the only problem or do you need any custom mounts? what about the wiring? is that all different? iv done a load of rover engine conversions which involved swapping the subframes and everything...

yep the acoustic valve has been removed so will check that out. not sure what fuel its running on, presumably 99 ron as my bro wanted as much power out of the old girl as possible. i see where your coming from with the plugs. what plugs are usually best for the 172? im going to replace them...

you could easily damage the new bearing my using a hammer and is much safer and better practice to use the correct equipment, in this case a hydraulic press

you could always save a few bob and take the hub off yourself and just get a garage to press old bearing out and press new one in. some garages wont do it but you may strike lucky. its easy enough to do remove and refit hub yourself if you have a clue what youre doing with the spanners
