while looking for a renault 5gtt engine, i found a brand new 172 engine for £1k, i also found a new megan 2l turbo engine for £1k. doesnt sound bad. after reading loads of threads about turbos, nos, conversions etc etc, i thought id have a look into it. from reading other threads in different forums it looks like people are getting lower insurance for these engine mods than if they were to get a normal 172 etc! how mad is that!
I was looking more towards the gtt engine, got a bit of info for that from the rsc forum and was going to ring torsion tuning for info. But 172 engine looks quite good! it would prob drop straight in my 1.2 dynamique would it not? Is clutch/ gearbox the same? the ecu would need changing, how hard would that be? i know the gtt ecu has less wires and prob would have been a bit of a pain! What else would i need for the 172 engine? fuel pump and way better brakes i spose! Ill be checking with insurance tommoro to see how much extra much extra i can expect. cheers
