182 track rat in dubai

bought my clio in july last year and been slowly working away at it for the last few months.

have been regularly doing track days at the dubai autodrome and yas marina circuit

car is 2005 182 ff cup 106 k kms when i picked it up. last owner had just put a new gear box in from the dealer cost him 2k i paid 3 k for the car. which was nice!

it was had a new front wing which doesnt match at all and theres loads of parking dings but im not bothered as its only for hacking round the track.

car was stock

i fitted some brembo HC Discs and carbon lorraine pads

then added some H&R coilovers. should of held out for some AST as i want to change them now.

first rims were rota slipstreams (i know i know the car will explode and die)

had to make some spigot rings as there are honda fitment

and were wrong off set so had to go ghetto on rear calipers

have also fitted ITG panel filter, decat and Ktec Miltec back box. which is wonky!!! but i must say Ktec have been really good for getting parts from. and also picked up a few bits of clio spares.

i wouldnt dream of going to the dealer here as the would rob you blind plus they only sold 50 182's here so hardly hold any parts in stock.

managed to swap a set of head and tail lights for a set of speed lines of a cup racer. which i shot blasted and powder coated.

have also stripped interior fitted oreca steering wheel, OMP bucket and harness.

and have ordered a set of jenvey ITB's with omex ECU. Alan from Omex has been really helpfull. i should get them next week.

car as it stands now. well nearly i took the height adjuster of the back springs to lower it a bit more last night.

also managed to get a cage from a cup racer which i should be powder coating same colour as wheels next week

The spec of the car is sounding great. Are you allowed the front windscreen tinted in Dubai?

Oh and you have Brembo Max discs not HC's (unless you were meaning High Carbon)

Which Carbon Lorriane pads do you run? I have the older RC5 pads :)

arch gap fixed more pics to follow from track tomorrow! i woun't be wearing my kilt tomorrow.

u can have a clear uv protection film on the front.

the tints on it are really cheap blueish ones but are strong and its better than having the sun beating into your car all day but they look crap.

the carbon lorraine pads are from K-tec cant remember which ones.

100 quid! cheaper than dubai autodrome.

yas isnt that much fun big straights and and alot of second gear corners. which i don't find that fun. last track day i did there when i came after the first session everybody was already in the pits i thought i missed the flag and had done an extra lap but it was just that everybody else's brakes were cooked :) brake ducts FTW!

my tyres are Nitto NT555A never seen them in UK but they are a DOT approved semi slick 50 quid each

car went perfect today. only problem is power steering bottle is always damp round the top after a few sessions. is this overheating or just crap lid?

car is going in to get ITB'S fitted next tuesday and have the battery relocated. not sure where yet was thinking on passenger side in between the mounting points for seat sub frame. should really get new race battery! but stock will do for now.

still waiting to get the cage pulled from other shell so i can get moving on that.

has anyone seen a cup car shell in a 182? im gonna have to really butcher my dash!

i've had suspension, a few clutches, a gear kit, transponders, brake ducts, pads, driveshafts and some other bits in their before (not for a clio might i add LOL! these were for a prototype project we ran in Hungary)

Was planing to do that in my car as well with a Odyssey 25 battery + alu bracket. However its impossible if you will use passanger side 6-point harness like I do. Think I'll mount it flat in standard location or behind the passanger seat instead.

wanna get some spacers for the front and rear what size are folk using? also where did u get them from?

Nice little shopping list, i'm using Ebach 25mm each side hubcentric spacers on the front and i've spaced the rear hub 10mm each side with -3 degrees camber. I have ET37 wheels too so its quite wide.

I bought mine from ebay but venom motorsport also do them for a good price.

right ITB's are on!

alternator is well in the way!

i thought when people were talking about fitting a sausage filter and keeping air con it was because of the hose's!! thats what i get for thinking:eek:

i have removed the hose's but my trumpet is pretty much sitting on the alternator.
my trumpets are 60mm.

what is going to be my easyest option!
fit 90mm trumpet?
k-tec ac delete kit?
JMS ac delete kit?
burp's is not an option here finding a volvo in a scrapy's is going to be impossible.

next mistake!

fuel rail does not fit with backing plate for filter!

so ordered a slip on ITG and some 90mm trumpets!

should of got them in the first place.

omex also sent me a fuel regulator with my kit which is not mentioned in the fitting instructions and doesnt match up with connections so seeing as ive got it now ordered a billet fuel rail and gonna get a braided fuel line and run it through the car.

so no baaarrrrrrarp for me this weekend :(

3 days for shipping is a b**ch!

My reccomendation would have been to order the 90mm trumpets and keep your ac as your in Dubai and it surly must get used quite a bit!

Another big reccomendation would be to buy a smaller compact radiator fan. Buy running the 90mm trumpets you have to loose the slam pannle, if you loose the slam pannle then the radiator wobbles backwards and forwards and the standard fan will bash the sh*t out of the end trumpet and will damage it like the previous owner did to mine. So buy having a smaller rad fan you will have a little bit more room to play with.

The new fan can run off the same wires the standard one does so its simple.
