Hi.

As you may know, or if not : http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?549698-HELP-AIRBAG-QUESTION

Well, 2 weeks ago i finally got my new cliosport.

The Clio

I went for another 182, in orange, with cup packs. Pretty much the same car i had except this one came with a CD changer under the passenger seat and a refrigerated glove box.

It has a FRSH, 32K on the clock and MINT paintwork. The 2 front wheels have little curb marks on and the splitter had a bit missing from the middle but other than this its lush.

I got the cambelt and aux belt changed, and a oil change within the price so im very happy.

Pictures

Here is some poor pictures of the night i went and first looked at it.

Plans

The plans are;

  • Put my old SS Janspeed cat back exhaust on.
  • Wheel refurb, probs make the colour a bit darker.
  • New splitter.
  • New tyres.
  • Upgrade the brakes. (Dont know what yet. Thinking brembo disks.)
I do want to get the recaros for this one, just like i did for my old one but never found any. I also want to try it out on the track so thinking of Croft, FCS and Trax.

Im also going to try and keep it a bit cleaner than my last one. Anyways, there should be more pictures at the weekend when i give it a good clean.

Thanks, Sam!

Looks great mate, glad you managed to get another one.

Look forward to seeing this out and about :)

Btw the Brembo's are working well for me along with the Ferodo's ;)

All the clios with air con have a little blue valve in the back of the glove box... open it up and cold, air conditioned air is allowed to enter

Does that mean also heated air can enter when its undone?
Its nice to see some more infernos showing up though, looks smart!

Well. After owning the car for 4 weeks now i have made a few little changes.

Update

Firstly.

Finally got round to putting the personalised reg back on..

Looks way better. Pretty much back to the same as my old one was.

Secondly.

I also got the stainless steel exhaust put on to it off my old inferno which went on easier than i thought.

I then thought id give the bean a little wash as it was filthy, and had quite a few tar spots on near the wheel archs.

Quite happy at how it came out considering im s**t at cleaning cars. Ha.

Desperatly need to get a new splitter on it as them to bits at the ends are annoying. :(

Thanks for your time.

Looks nice. Pity you didn't clean between the spokes on the wheels ;)
Welcome back to the bean club.

I didnt clean the wheels mark. It was pitch black when i did it last night and could barly see them. Its spitting today, and i kinda have a hangover so they can wait until another day. ha

Dont think anyone has done this yet. Well, atleast i have not seen it.

Had planned to do this on my old inferno but didnt get around to it before i wrote it off. LOL

So now here it is.

The Purchase

5520182020_f6748c86a0_z.png

Orange seatbelts out of an Inferno Megane Sport.

I bought these from a breakers yard in london. They needed a bit of a clean buy i wasnt put off by this.

I had previously contacted Fred about fitting these into the baked bean and he said he didnt really know. So i set about attempting to fit these into the bean.

Problem

The first thing i noticed was at the bottom of the megane seatbelts the fastener was totally different. I know the clio had like a bar that the seatbelts slid up and down on and the megane just had a buckle.

I set about cutting this buckle off as i thought it would slide over the bar like the standard clio belts did.

5520080362_2d32d07c06_z.jpg

The Bar with standard clio belts on:

5519492231_01938b8a3e_z.jpg

IT WORKED. Megane belts on!

5519493197_e14543789b_z.jpg

Next was fitting it 'bit that fastends to the door pillar' to the door pillar.

The bolt for the clio is really stubby, where as the megane one is quite a bit longer. I look at the back and noticed there where 2 little clips on it. (You can see the 2 little black clips)

5520338080_a769bee822_z.jpg

So i carefully bent both clips and the bolt dropped out. I then did the same on the clio belts and got the bolt from that, and pushed it into the megane one. Fitted perfectly.

So i bolted that on. :D

5520083660_3b969bb0a2_z.jpg

The hard bit

This was what i thought was going to be a bit of a pain in the arse.

Firstly took the rear door card ?:S off (what a pain in the arse that is btw) then was left with the big recoil machanism thingy at the bottom. In the clio, they sit in a little gap which it fits in. (Sadly i didnt take any pictures as the camera ran out.)

5520338696_411085f846_z.jpg

Right. If you look at the picture above, this is the megane seatbelt.

On the megane, im assuming that there was a bolt which screwed into the tapped hole and went into the chassis. On the clio. This is not the same.

There is a bit of metal, around 10cm long which bolts into the chassis further down and then the other end of it is onto the seat belt mechanism.

So i undid this and where it connected to the seatbelt mechanism on the clio was a big old school rivet.

I got a 6MM drill bit and drilled the old rivet out so i could get this piece of metal.

I then got some 10MM hign tensile rivets and dug out my rivet gun. (It needed some WD40. HAA)

I got a 10MM drill bit and drilled the tapped bits out of the megane mechanism so it was nice and smooth, then i placed both bits of metal together and wacked the rivet in. Then just put the bolt back in the bottom of the bracket and put this into the clio chassis.

The Finished Item

Well, overall im really happy with the seatbelts. I need to clean them up a bit more.. (Anyone know what i can use to get a good clean finish ??)

Heres the pictures.

Well. Im BUZZING i finally got them in. I hope you guys like.

Any questions fire them over!

Thanks, Sam!!

Well today has been a good day for the baked bean.

Ive had a few objects lying around in the garage for a while for the baked bean and i woke up this morning and it was nice enough so thought i would crack on.

Firstly

I had some news disk and pads that i bought about a month ago.

So went about getting these fitted with help from the old man.

5520067716_6c25affacc_z.jpg

Got the car jack on the axle stands and took the wheels. First thing i noticed was that the front disk and caliper had a bit of CV boot grease on it. I say a bit... was a lot really. Bugger!!!:(

5520068694_50425b3e07_z.jpg

So i popped round the local DIY shop and bought 2 big jubilee clips and a tube of CV boot grease. Took the broken ty rap and got the jubilee clip on. I cleaned up a bit round when most of the grease was and squirted some new grease inside and tightend the jubilee clip. Sorted!! (Y)

Back to the brakes...

I now could start. The old ones...

Backs

They where not really that bad but i thought i changed them anyways..

Took the caliper off and then the 2 torx bolts on the disk and they came off really easy. (My dad couldnt believe how easy it was to do.)

The new ones...

We did have a bit of a problem trying to fit the back pads. (http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?566417-Rear-Brake-Problem) Didnt realise that you literally had to wind the piston back with a screwdriver. (Thankyou to @DAMO_SPORT)

Got them all finished. Quick picture of them behind the wheels..

Air Filter

Had one of these also in the garage so i thought id plonk it in. Like the disks it probably didnt need changing but thought i may aswell.

Hello there.

Been busy today in the baked bean. Heres whats been going on...

Recaros

I picked some Recaros up last night off @chris205 as hes breaking his trophy.

5540470633_7a27cc4bec_z.jpg

They where in mint condition and so easy to fit. Took me and my mate about 40 minutes to get the old ones out and these bad boys in.

Heres some pics..

The Problem

As with fitting all the bucket seats i had the SERV and Aigbag light on. Sorted this by popping down to Maplin and getting 2 x 3.3 Ohm resisters for 48p. Love it!!

Popped them in the black connector on each seat and off the lights went. :D

Foot Rest

When picking up the recaros off @chris205 i also got a alloy foot rest.

Took me all of 30 seconds to fit. Finishes it off that bit more...
