Thanks, Sam!

  182 Cup
note it looks silly with no splitter ive got a skoda one on order, hit a rabbit and cracked the original and then a month or so ago it jus fell off and i drove over the bloody thing!! soz about the finger in the pics but you get the idea of the belts, had to get the company on ebay to order them special cos they wer advertised to fit caterhams an the like, bonus to having the 4 points both sides means no scroungers wanting lifts!!

  182 Cup
just realised you asked what theyre fitted to not where, soz, think ive got them fitted to rear belt mount points but cant really remember!!

Quick Sunday Clean

Well, i woke up early yesterday and it was a nice day so i decided to clean the bean.

Before

It was looking a bit dull. Doing 300 miles a week in it takes its toll, and the fact there was CV boot grease on one of the wheels that flicked all on the side skirt and drivers door i had a bit of a challenge on my hands.

So it wasn't looking its best. :(

After

Heres what it looked like after i had cleaned it. Im not the best person at cleaning bit i tried. :approve::approve:

Its also had 4 Michelin Pilot Sport 3's put on it. There brilliant tyres. Really sticks to the road now and feels solid and tight in the corners.

Shes just about ready for FCS..

Finally got around to ordering a fabia splitter from skoda. Picked it up today and the weather was decent so i went about fitting it.

It was pretty simple to fit. I did it on my own but i guess it would be easier with someone else.

I needed;

A splitter!
Self tappers
Masking tape of Electricians tape (Anything that wont damage the paint on your car.)
Philips screwdriver.
Stanley Knife.

This is what it came in when i picked it up. A stupidly oversizes pizza box. Ha. I went to the local DIY and bought some 5mm x 19mm self tappers.

I jacked the car up high enough so i could fit the screwdriver under it. I went round and took all the old bolts out from the previous splitter!

I took the new one and found the center point which i pointed to with the screwdriver!

I put this up to the car in the center of the front bumper and then put a piece of electricians tape on to hold it in place.

Starting in the middle i pushed an indent in to the splitter with the end of my screwdriver. Then i started to screw the self tapper in. The skoda splitter is really soft and flexible so you dont need to put loads of pressure into putting the self tapper through.

When you get to the bumper you need to apply more pressure as its alot tougher!

I think i used about 18 self tappers in total, i just put them on every little lip that the skoda splitter had. I did use a stanley knife to cut around some of the nuts that where under the front bumper in the first place that where holding different bits of plastic in place.

I would try to get the splitter as even as possible around the front of the bumper by running my finger along and seeing if it needed to come out or go further in before tightening the self tapper.

A quick heads up. When tightening the self tappers, you dont need to do them overly tight or else they just start spinning on the spot as you have messed up the plastic its went into.

You can see all the self tappers i used here!

When you fit your splitter, you will notice that it does have some excess at either end. You will have to cut this off.

I read on here that a stanley knife was more than capable aslong as it had a decent enough blade.

Just a tip. Before i cut mine off, i put the jack under the end of the splitter and bumper like so...

5739930227_1c34e255e6_z.jpg

I jacked it up so it was nice and solid under the bumper. This ment that when i put pressure on it to cut through with the standley knife it didnt twist or buckle.

Worked well IMO.

This is what i was left with.

i did my splitter jus like you did, cant believe how much difference a strip of black plastic makes to the overall look of the car. yours looks good btw, mines in need of a good wash n polish.

Cheers guys.

I dont know if the splitter will fit. I know karl (Above 2) has a MK3 clio splitter on his and it looks good. Might be worth seeing if you can get one of them ?

Yeh mate. It is the one from norwich. Sadly, im not from there. Im from Middlesbrough, Teesside. The one in norwich was the only tidy one i could find.

I got recaro's too, they're bang tidy!!
Don't see why a skoda splitter wouldn't fit a phase 1 172.

Si

Recaros are the best thing ive bought for my clio. Love them!!

Ace! Not thought about putting a shallower plate on the front? Would tidy the front up no end!

I dont really fancy it Jon. Ive never really been a fan of it.

Thanks,
Sam!

Love my recaro's although they're looking a bit tatty an could do with the suede cleaning, anyone know a good way of cleaning the suede parts, the leather is still as fresh as the day they were made though.
