Does anyone know anything about poweredge 2850 servers? Have one here which is displaying chassis intrusion on the LCD read out but the chassis is perfect and everything inside is connected.

Any ideas?

Turn the chassis intrusion part of the BIOS off? It'll be a sensor somewhere that's misbehaving

Unable to even access the BIOS. The fans in one of the power supplies runs but the power doesnt kick in properly im guessing due to the error.

The little switch is still there and connected.

The warning is on the little LCD readout on the front of the panel and not powering on properly as a result.

You've probably got Dell OpenManage Server Administrator installed on there.
If you haven't, install it first, then go into the Chassis secton and clear the alert.
It should turn the LCD readout back to blue and stop whinging about it.
The alert is logged because the chassis has been opened. Clearing the alert from the BIOS or via OpenManage is the only way to get rid of it AFAIK, and it'll come back when the chassis is opened again.

Was just gonna say.. bollox to all that going into the bios and flashing pisch..

Just reset it in the Dell OpenManage interface.. takes 1 minute tops. The first thing I do when either an smtp alert or I notice a dell server with an orange backlit LCD is fire up Openmanage.

Chassis intrusion shouldn't stop it booting, sounds like something else is broke.

Nah. Chassis intrusion won't stop it from booting. Something else is definitely wrong.
Download the Dell Diagnostics CD and boot from that. It'll flag up whatever's wrong.
